Hi!

Best first step is to get with a lender. They can run your credit, take a look at your finances, and help create plan that aligns with your budget. First time home buyer grants still exist but there are some draw backs including higher interest rates and refinance penalties if you refinance before you've lived in the home for three years. Using your own down payment funds, you can put down as little as 3% of the purchase price. The other item to factor in is saving for your closing costs.
