I really miss the Scottsdale culinary school that was affiliated with either the Cordon Blue or the Culinary Institute. Great food at startlingly low prices, in a quiet, calm setting with cheery student servers.

I know that Scottsdale Community College has a school, with a restaurant called Artichoke - lunch only, limited hours, and rather noisy. Are there any other options, preferably on the east side of town? I see there are schools, but it doesn't look as if there are restaurants in conjunction with the schools. I was looking to take some friends to a quiet, civilized dinner that was still affordable, and Artichoke just doesn't fit the bill, except for location.

Thanks, good to know about this, but it's too low-end for my taking these friends out.

Wait a sec - this might be the solution. I think I had that confused with the SCC. I'll check it out. Thanks!

Based on your experience, would you consider it to be a relatively quiet restaurant, or a relatively noisy restaurant - which has to do with things like music, ceiling height, table spacing, carpeting etc.?

I called them, and no matter what I asked, they refused any real answers.

It is the restaurant run by the students and culinary instructors. It is a "fine dining" restaurant to give the students experience, so it is quiet. There is carpeting, tall ceilings, I don't remember music, space between tables is nice, there is a large viewing window into the baking class which is fun. You can watch the students making bread or pastries.

If I lived closer, I would go there. The food was excellent.
