I got a ticket this weekend (phoenix PD) and a court appearence for not having proof of registration and proof of insurance. Can I send copies into them or take them to a police station and have the tickets taken care of (fix it ticket), or will I still have to go to court??

You will have to goto court and bring proof of both or that will be one hefty fine.

I'm surprised the officer didn't do more then give you a ticket. Yes, you can go to court and prove you have the registration and proof.

A similar incident happened to me on one of my motorcycles. I printed out this temp plate, the grid saw i had no plate mounted on(but had it in my backpack) and after the 2nd day, went after me. The officer refused to believe i was innocent and gave me a ticket. Went to court and had the judge threw it out. Showing the plate i have now, the plate that i printed, and wala, no fines or fees.

I hate my English when i first wake up.... time for coffee.

My wife got the same thing recently. She just got a warning, though. Maybe next time you should try crying.

You are going to have to go to court.

If you have insurance that was effective at the time of the violation, look on the inside of the citation envelope for a telephone # and call to ask where to send copies of your insurance&reg. There's a # on the bottom left of the citation, above the green line. Did you get cited for 28-4135A or 28-4135C? There's a difference in fine amount. For the 4135A it can be 900-1800 bucks, but maybe reduced to around $150 with proof of coverage. If it's 4135C (no proof) the charge can be dismissed as long as the court gets a copy of the policy that was current when you were stopped.

Why would you drive without insurance or registration? Do you have any idea the kind of problems you could have caused if you hit someone?

I was hit by a kid with no insurance, and I only had liablilty. It sent me in a downward spiral and put me through some very touch economic troubles, since I just lost $4k. I sued the kid and I get money from his paychecks now, but it will take years.

The OP did not say he did not have insurance or registration - he said that he did not have PROOF OF BOTH WITH HIM. In other words - he has insurance and his vehicle is registered.

The court should dismiss these citations

Head injuries are the worst.

yes I had both registration and insurance at the time of the stop but no proof. I now think I will have to go to court. Although someone said I wouldn't have to wait for the scheduled court date, I can go anytime before hand
