Of course there are many necessities--things even more necessary than education--which are provided by private companies. Food and clothing, for example, and medicines. Some people do think the government should institute price controls on such products. But such people generally cannot claim to be following market economics when instituting such price controls, which was the point I was making.

In many cases you cannot do this such as with telcos, ISPs, utility companies, and insurance companies under various circumstances. The libertarian point of view is then "I can do without it" which certainly isn't a good option when it comes to educating your children.

Sometimes I think the American ideal of rugged individualism is taken so far that it reaches the point of full derp.
