honestly that's a year i'll lose which i can't afford. my mom wants to retire and move to south america to be with her brothers/sisters/nieces/nephews. the only reason she's sticking to the US is because she wants to see me graduate (aka the walk in robes).

so to postpone my graduation from two years to three isn't fair on her. so i really want this situation to fix itself. at this point the money to go to pitt isn't bugging me. What is bothering me is the fact out of the 68 credits it took to graduate from the community college in va, only about 10 will transfer, according to the unofficial transcript. that leaves me 110 credits, thus labeled freshmen.

To graduate on time for your mother, you have two choices. You can postpone coming to Pittsburgh for two years, and attend a college in Virginia that has a transfer credit agreement with your community college. Or you can come to Pittsburgh this fall, attend whatever university you pick, and also attend Pittsburgh's community college to pick up the early credits the university isn't accepting from your community college. You can also take classes in the two summers you will be in school. You can make up those lost credits quickly if you apply yourself and go to school in the summers.

BarqCider, I really think you should look into some private schools, or at least talk to an admissions counselor at Pitt if you haven't already about why only 10 of 68 credits are transferring. That doesn't make sense to me, if you went to an accredited community college. You might not be able to use all 68 (ie you might need certain gen eds you didn't take already), but certainly more than 10 should transfer. If not, then you really ought to look at either private schools (usually they have flexible transfer policies) or schools in VA with transfer agreements.

The adviser should be able to help you fill out a best fit form for the classes. The problem usually results in the courses at the universities not matching up word for word even if the are comparable. As others had said, maybe not all 68 will transfer but the adviser should be able to help you gain a better understanding of what is going on with them only taking 10 of those credits

That should be an easy grade for you then! If you take an advanced placement test, it's likely you will be placed in an advanced class. Do you read and write Spanish or just speak it? Is your reading and writing at college level? If you're forced to take a language and you feel you would be bored taking Spanish, take another language. I'd personally take Spanish and go for the easy grade.
