Living out your youth and “productive years” in a place that makes you miserable, only to spend your retirement half-time in Florida doesn’t sound like a great trade off to me. Obviously YMMV.

Either way.. I hope you enjoy your “golden years”!

Actually, the area doesn’t make me miserable. I simply said that weather is a factor when choosing where to live and gave factual information about Pittsburgh area weather, and some took offense to that.

Living 6 months a year in both places is really the best of both worlds. I recently turned 50 and decided to fully retire so I consider my golden years pretty great.

Thanks you.

No, I said either give the exact number or round off to half (50%). Either is appropriate depending on context. I didn't invent the concept of mathematical rounding just to benefit Pittsburgh on City Data.

You’re embellishing. It’s less than half so that’s what I’ll continue to say.

^ We're the cloudiest major U.S. city I could find, and we're one of the cloudiest major cities in North America, yet we have people who claim we're "not that cloudy"? I love my Pittsburgh; however, don't try to "spin" us as NOT being a gray city. The amount of "spin" on this sub-forum is laughable at times.

It is less than half. It's 45% possible sunshine hours. 55% clouds.

For as much as I love this city I become severely depressed from November through April or so because it's dreary almost every day. One of the few things that will make me leave Pittsburgh is the climate. Why suffer so much dreariness here when cities not far away have much sunnier weather without much more extremes on either end in terms of heat/humidity or cold/snow?

That's a good question. I like the weather here for the most part, but weather isn't a critical aspect to where I choose to live. So, what keeps you here? You sound miserable.

Yes, let's encourage more people to move out of a city that's already declining in population.

Well to be fair, Yuma gets more hours of daylight (not just sunshine per year) so it has more opportunity to have sunshine. I am not saying it is overly sunny here, but all things are not equal when you just count hours of sunshine.
