Now you can have your unlimited information, your blogs, your discussion groups and your websites, left, right and center, but the news media has a responsibility to the public to provide information constructive to the public discourse. This does not mean that every tom, dick and jane should be afforded the legitimacy that is conferred by appearing on the pages or programs of national news organizations. The opinion of this asinine individual does nothing to expand our understanding of the issues that confront us as a nation. Wasting the finite airtime, ink and bandwith which could be better utilized with actual reporting in depth on real issues, we are served up a steady diet of inflammatory talking heads who offer nothing of the kind.

This doesn't mean that we need to go back to the days of the Big Three, who by the way did a pretty exemplary job of presenting the issue, all it means is that the cable networks, be they MSNBC, CNN, FOX or who ever, start acting like their constitutionally protected business are a damned public trust.
The Constitution is supposed to protect every business. Not just the press.

And yet, that's why we're all here on City-Data - to read others' opinions and express our own, in the hopes of expanding our and others' understanding of the issues, right?

If that's not the case... then why are you here, exactly?

This forum serves a very different purpose than that of the media, yes?

As for what motivates anyone to participate on C-D, I dare say that runs the gamut, although expanding one another's understanding seems to be the least of them.

Ah, no, sorry, that simply isn't true.

It seems to be ok to insult and make racist comments about black people long as they are republican.
Get off it. When are you going to get it. Tea party is racist. Blacks know it is racist. Blacks in overwhelming majorities do not support this group that exist for one purpose and one purpose only. Destroy this black President at all cost. And they are doing it to. The racist are winning hope you and your Husband are proud. Your part of the group that will go down as the group that used every bit of hate they could muster to destroy this Nations first and if the tea party can help, it last black President.

Actually, between 100,000-200,00 quarter, half, and even full jews served in the Wehrmacht (regular German army) during ww2, they were called mischlinge(google it if you want to learn more), I know this because I am a descendant of one, and I have to find the CNN fellows comparison of black tea partiers to jewish "nazis" somewhat ingenious.

I don't wish to speak for anyone, but maybe those black tea partiers are putting aside their racial identity in what they believe to be an ideological mission compatible with their values?

I know my own grandfather (born and died a jew) fought for Germany because his father fought for the Kaiser as an infantry officer in the first war, and so on and so forth as they were an old military family and very loyal to their country-not the jackasses running it.

Basically they had a reason for serving that future people would not understand. Its important to remember German jews up until the Nuremberg laws (ironically heartily endorsed by the German Zionists) were the most integrated jewish population in Europe at the time, meaning many considered themselves Germans first, jews second.

To flip it around, would the CNN man call black soldiers (who were literally treated like crap-even Jesse Owns preferred his treatment in Nazi Germany to Jim Crow) who enlisted in the US Army to serve their own country during ww2 "uncle toms"? I dont think so. They'd be "pioneers".

That comment was ridiculously extreme.

Having said that, Black Americans are a rainbow of personal and political beliefs. So if a few believe in and support the Tea Baggers, that should hardly be surprising.

Would it be surprising that most White Americans DON'T support the Tea Baggers?

I once attended a "Tea Party", thinking that I should truly listen to all sides. However, I discovered that most people there were just Bama haters. I really do believe that to hate the man that much, you've just got to be a racist.

Most people who hated Obama there (at the "Tea Party"), also either liked or loved Goerge Bush!

George Bush was stupid. He couldn't spell. He stole the election with the help of Florida family members. He was responsible for the Iraq/Afghanistan War by telling the biggest lie in the history of mankind. He got us into a prohibitive amount of debt due to the war effort and supporting the war by borrowing from China. Trust me, we don't want to owe,China! He started this downward economical spiral. He snorted cocaine and smoked marijuana in college.

Did Obama even have enough time to do any of those things?

Well, at least we know he's smarter than Bush. Hopefully, he'll be smart enough to get us out of this mess that the Bush administration put us in!

Tea Party = Racist Nazi Party of the Right = NRA Lies about taking firearms away!

PS.

Always Remember This Lie: "Iraq has weapons of mass destruction"
