Ah Islam, the petulant child of religions. If we don't get what we want we'll cause violence. Just like a 2 year old having a hissy fit because he can't get what he wants.

I don't see where he thinks violence will result...can't people get angry without getting violent?

Wow a Muslim that speaks with common sense...

from the article regarding the Quran burning:

Quote:
We have freedom of speech, but with freedom comes responsibility ... this is dangerous for our national security, but also it is the unchristian thing to do.
Isn't this kinda condemning violence? Doesn't this kinda make this thread pointless I suppose?

Quote:
When asked if the State Department was correct in saying Hamas was a terrorist organization, Rauf said: "I condemn everyone and anyone who commits acts of terrorism, and Hamas has committed acts of terrorism."
Is this true?

Quote:
He pointed out that news of the plans to build the Islamic center and mosque was published in The New York Times in December, and "no one objected" at the time. He said the issue was politicized later.
It may benefit everyone to actual read the article instead of saying he is predicting violence from moderate Muslims...

You gotta love how the Christian Taliban responded to this thread and turned the word "anger" into "terrorism" Talk about manipulating one's words to make them a target of Right Wing extremism.

Sorry but I'm a realist. Politics is a part of the world we live in. We declare ourselves to be a country of religious freedom. Legally, they have the right to build a mosque there. That's America. You don't have to like it but you have to respect their right to build a mosque there. The Muslim world is paying attention and seeing if we are a bunch of hypocrites. It has nothing to do with threatening violence or terrorism if we don't do what they say. That's just the wing nuts exploiting this to suit their agenda of generating anti-Islamic feelings. Sorry but those of us with a brain and can think for ourselves will not allow ourselves to be manipulated. I'm a Conservative but I'm not a member of the Christian Taliban. And yes, the Islamic community needs to do a better job of calling out violent fundamentalists in their community. However, there are idiots on both sides of the spectrum. You are seeing one side in the responses above.

What is this, a flippin' threat?!!! Trying to make us cower in fear? So, they are the religion of peace? Bring it, buddy! Ferret them out for us!

Good grief and people have confidence and believe this man is honest and sincere in what he is about? Give me a break!

He warned that Muslims worldwide could react more violently than the bloody riots that followed the publication of Danish cartoons of the Prophet Mohammed in 2005, strengthen extremists' ability to recruit followers and increase violence against Americans.

Moving NY mosque could fuel violence: imam

Here's what else he said, in the above linked article - "If I knew this would happen, this would cause this kind of pain, I wouldn't have done it," he said, without specifying whether he would have changed the location.

Uh, Rauf, you haven't started construction yet and are not supposed to have full funding, so don't build it! Duh!!!

What a sorry excuse for doing what he wants to do and using all of these other issues as a smoke screen.
