So they are concerned with how to pay for 9/11 victims, but not concerned with how to pay for tax cuts for the top 2% of Americans? Classy.
It's not the government's money. How about you just not spend what you don't take in? It doesn't "cost" anything for a tax cut--it just means the government has less money in the pocket to spend. If you don't take it in, you never have it in your pocket to dole out.
I think that's the basic philosophical difference between a conservative and liberal...you folks seem to think that the government owns it all and just lets us keep some of our money.
No doubt a reflection of DEMOCRAT VOTER APATHY! Absolutely incredible that Dems showed up in great numbers fo put this president in office, then sat home during the midterms to allow these Republican regressives to gain more control in Congress. So this is no surprise. These Republicans block aid to 9/11 workers but they will approve BILLIONS of aid to foreign countries justifying it as a way to "spread democracy."
Dem voters have let Obama down by allowing the regressives to gain seats and leverage. This country is neanderthal-driven with Pubs are in a position to dictate direction.

Hmmmm...they didn't seem to have such qualms about spending money in the days just after 9/11 when they:
1. Gave block grants to small businesses disrupted by the attack on Manhattan.
2. Injected $100 billion PER DAY into the financial system for 3 days.
3. Raised the deficit by $40 billion to fund relief efforts.
4. Passed an extension of unemployment insurance () and excelerated depreciation rates for corporate investments. The revenue loss from those was projected to be $51 billion in just 2002.
5. Set aside $32.8 billion of stand-by credit for Uruguay and Brazil.
6. Set aside $15 billion for the airlines.
7. Provided $21.7 billion in aid to New York City.
But, of course, when it comes to what amounts to pocket change in comparison with this partial list to do something for those who actually put their lives on the line? Well....that's different, you see.
I honestly don't care what the gov't spends--as long as they don't spend more than they take in, and as long as they stop taking so dang much money from me and other tax payers.
Senate GOP blocks 9/11 first responders health plan bill
Country first huh?
So low class...
Quote:
Senate Republicans on Thursday morning filibustered legislation to monitor and treat first responders and emergency workers who suffered illnesses related to 9/11. A vote to quash the filibuster failed by a vote of 57 to 42, three votes short of the necessary threshold. As a result, the proposal is unlikely to pass this year. The bill would provide funding for a health program to treat first responders, construction and cleanup workers and residents who inhaled toxic particles after the collapse of the World Trade Center towers.
Good! We can't afford it. We simply cannot keep giving people free stuff!!!
But if you want to donate your money, please feel free to do so. That is called "charity". But it isn't the government's job to take money from others and pass it out. That is theft.
