I don't know that the Dems holding the middle class hostage equals growing a set. Why don't they grow a pair and cut spending?

Yeah, this certainly makes me want to be a hero for my country.

Where people who tout themselves as the noble patriotic real America stab those heroes in the back at every opportunity.

It's not the government's money. How about you just not spend what you don't take in? It doesn't "cost" anything for a tax cut--it just means the government has less money in the pocket to spend. If you don't take it in, you never have it in your pocket to dole out.

I think that's the basic philosophical difference between a conservative and liberal...you folks seem to think that the government owns it all and just lets us keep some of our money.

Dem voters have let Obama down by allowing the regressives to gain seats and leverage. This country is neanderthal-driven with Pubs are in a position to dictate direction.

Hmmmm...they didn't seem to have such qualms about spending money in the days just after 9/11 when they:

1. Gave block grants to small businesses disrupted by the attack on Manhattan.

2. Injected $100 billion PER DAY into the financial system for 3 days.

3. Raised the deficit by $40 billion to fund relief efforts.

4. Passed an extension of unemployment insurance () and excelerated depreciation rates for corporate investments. The revenue loss from those was projected to be $51 billion in just 2002.

5. Set aside $32.8 billion of stand-by credit for Uruguay and Brazil.

6. Set aside $15 billion for the airlines.

7. Provided $21.7 billion in aid to New York City.

And this is just a partial list.

http://docs.google.com/viewer?a=v&q=cache:-MB4M7bn-EwJ:www.fas.org/irp/crs/RL31617.pdf+government+funds+for+companies+affecte d+by+9/11&hl=en&gl=us&pid=bl&srcid=ADGEESjt_keLgVuGhamFS1 ygW4_tBDUsIWLe2ruy-qpHYQXWCAgR2u8Nds9VmfF6aOG-6OPiZqGiW9g0pMsqFYtBksL4IIuaiK_yPMrUhnWaxo6lGHNibi 0et8_jvm0sdg7bqj_drp7d&sig=AHIEtbSgWbU3rYTCJ-Th8wtz03WdY1JEEg

But, of course, when it comes to what amounts to pocket change in comparison with this partial list to do something for those who actually put their lives on the line? Well....that's different, you see.

I honestly don't care what the gov't spends--as long as they don't spend more than they take in, and as long as they stop taking so dang much money from me and other tax payers.

Default Senate GOP blocks 9/11 first responders health plan bill

Country first huh?

So low class...

Quote:
Senate Republicans on Thursday morning filibustered legislation to monitor and treat first responders and emergency workers who suffered illnesses related to 9/11. A vote to quash the filibuster failed by a vote of 57 to 42, three votes short of the necessary threshold. As a result, the proposal is unlikely to pass this year. The bill would provide funding for a health program to treat first responders, construction and cleanup workers and residents who inhaled toxic particles after the collapse of the World Trade Center towers.
