Every bill these days, because of GOP radicalism, requires 60 votes to cut off debate. Every single one. You do not get unanimous consent anymore which allows you to go straight to the up or down vote.

Forcing the GOP to literally filibuster each bill would clog of the system. So what Reid does is take a straw vote of GOP Senators that would vote with the Dems in favor of cloture.

If it's not close they don't bother with the cloture vote...If it's close they will go to a cloture vote.

The effect is the same. And people rightfully refer to this process now used as a "filibuster" You are required to get 60 votes to put an end to GOP shennanigans on every vote.

He's screaming it's technically not a "filibuster" because he thinks that makes the GOP look better and his sides voters are too stupid to know what he's up to...LOL

Your own link says the bill is scheduled for a vote..

They are holding up a YES vote, not the voting itself..

There isnt one Republican holding it up over everyone else, the story is about one Republican making comments about why they arent supporting the bill. They arent about ready to ask every Republican to comment for a story..

That's an intentional fillibuster... Knowing one more Republican vote is needed...

No, that would be you two who obviously has no clue what a filibuster is. Heck, one doesnt even need to read passed the title of the story the OP linked too, to understand its not a filibuster..

"9/11 Health Bill HEADED to a Senate Vote"

A filibuster is when its NOT headed to a vote

No... one could pass a bill through reconciliation which only requires 51..

It either is, or it isnt a filibuster.. If the bill is scheduled for a vote, ITS NOT A FILIBUSTER.. You can continue to make the discussion about me (I'm flattered, really I am), or you can discuss the facts which clearly show its not a filibuster and anyone who says it is, doesnt know what a filibuster is.. This obviously would include you.

A) If they werent going to get that 1 vote, they wouldnt have moved it to a vote, unless of course its all a PR stunt and not intended to pass, which I doubt you will claim this to be true.
B) If its being moved to a vote, its not a filibuster. A filibster again is a bill that DOESNT COME UP FOR A VOTE..

You're obviously not reading the article... This is a first vote before the final vote... So this is a FILLIBUSTER...

"The measure has already passed in the House, and proponents of the measure say the lame-duck vote in the Senate is their last, best chance to make it law, because next year's GOP-controlled House isn't expected to support it.

Wednesday's planned vote is a critical point, but not the final step. If the test vote succeeds, the matter would proceed to floor debate, possible amendments, and a final vote on passage."

This reminds me of the Israeli threads where these apologists for the IDF faithfully remind us that Israeli's could never be guilty of "racism" because Palestinians are the same "race....LOL

Oh pardon me...You're technically just a bigot, not a racist.

Never in modern US history has their been on Party that was so obstructive than the GOP is today.

What are you kidding, with the failed messes the Dems have made, dang straight the demtwits need to walk the straight and narrow! Oh believe me, they are brave when it is something they truly truly want.

A filibuster again is a bill thats NOT BEING VOTED ON....

Filibuster: A filibuster is a process senators use to block measures or legislation. It is a parliamentary tactic.

By your own admission there is a PLANNED VOTE.

There is no blocking going on.. Its actually scheduled for a vote.. The bill might fail but under a filibuster all momentum on the bill stops.. No votes take place because the voting is blocked.

If they don't get that last Republican vote... This will be a fillibuster...
