I discussed pawns, or tried to use a weak analogy of pawns being "the little guy"? Neo-progs are notorious for redirecting the discussion.

You do not even know the history of the Volt. This car was in development from 2006 when W was chasing Yellow cake that did not exist.

...and it's success relies on the CEO working with Obama to get a gas tax increase.

Interesting factoid: The US has the world's highest percentage of people who think they'll one day rise to the top 1%. Of course, if you look at actual figures for relative social mobility, the US isn't unique in the Western World - the best predictor for a US person's income is still his/her parents' income.

Another interesting factoid: Millions of immigrants come here precisely for economic mobility over their homeland, China excluded.

Chess, as a game, tends to use pawns. And what the hell else would they be an analogy for? Incidentally, we both know who'd take it in the shorts if GM was allowed to fail.

Anyway, feel free to outline how the relative success of the Volt - which as we know was planned back in the heyday before the bubble had burst - is linked to government interference?

Chess, not checkers is a ubiquitous expression for looking at the long term picture and observe situational models in a more global perspective.

The CEO is asking for gas tax increases to help boost the sales of the Volt.
