I disagree. I find their declarations of freedom and equality for all to be in direct opposition to their practice of holding humans in bondage. Nothing will justify that...many of them were hypocrites. I say "Eff them!", too.
I am coming up against, now in my life, things I know to be true and beliefs institutions impose on you which are evil. I wanted to write "actually evil" but it seemed redundant. So I do one thing but believe another?
Things are getting out of control in our society. Guy on a talk show said he wanted the address of the White House from his smart phone to complain about something but was asked to Google it which he said would have identified him to big brother.
It really does not make a difference....but, the short answer is NO....I see no difference.
And this is new for me......like I posted before.....my first wedding pictures are very colorful.
So to you, there is no difference between a Black person who is decent, and someone who is a hoodrat? Well, I find that to be incorrect. Hood rats behave stupidly. Black people who are decent do not do the things hood rats do. Not making a distinction between the two shows a lack of critical thinking.
It doesn't matter what the first wedding shows. What matters is the way one thinks NOW.

Have you done ANY reading on this topic? Have you seriously not heard this justification before? I mean this seriously. This is NOT a new concept that I'm introducing. This *was* a rationalization used to justify the enslavement of African peoples.
The remark was indeed racist, but not in the way you want to believe.
If we go around enslaving people because they are physically superior, then every muscle-bound Irishman, Pole, Greek, etc would be enslaved.
Humans enslave others because of an innate belief in superiority. Period.
Multitude of reasons why alot of Blacks don't get hired for work.
My father, a Black man, was laid off from a job. He is an engineer. It took him nearly a year before he got another job, and he had two decades of experience and a master's degree. He's employed now. However, there were times when he had a hard time finding work, despite having alot of experience and being very well educated.
I have a friend who got laid off from a job. Despite decades of experience, education, and being well-qualified, it took her four years to find a job. Race may be a factor, but it's not always a factor.

That would be modern "race" theory. Ancient Romans did not keep Greek slaves because they necessarily thought they were superior to the Greeks (indeed, they acknowledged the superiority of the Greeks in many areas)...but because they had a better army.
