The government makes more money from each gallon of gas than the oil compnaies do. That's pathetic and it wouldn't be accepted by Americans if they actually listed the taxes you were paying as they do for every other product we buy. Why is the gas tax hidden and not shown seperatly from the purchase price like all other goods?

Do you have the habit of comparing net/gross revenues to one source to profits to others?

Anyone in the delivery business would be done with. Imagine all the Chinese and pizza places, furniture movers, couriers, etc. that would be out of work. The only solution they would have is to raise prices, and then, they would likely still go out of business since no one would be able to afford the exorbitant prices they'd have to charge.

What about truckers? The price of ALL goods would skyrocket. I guess this would bring new meaning to "buy local."

I'm sure this tax will only affect those families making over $250,000 a year.

These cleptocrats never get tired of trying to come up with new ways to tax the people.

Tens of millions are unemployed, 11 Million US mortgages are underwater , our food prices rise to near-record high as inflation speeds up, unemployment is at an eight-month high and the libs are focusing on ways to raise our taxes?

Me too. Taxed by the mile, instead of by the gallon, favors bigger vehicles and disfavors "cracker boxes".

As far as being "...paid for by the oil companies.", do you have any idea how assinine such a statement is?

Why yes, the idea was floated 6 months before Obama was in office. See my link above.
Please, continue to say it was Obama's idea though. It makes for great, wrong conversation.
