Of course not, but proving who you are has certainly cut down on the occurance for now. As the dishonest devise better ways of mastering this type of criminal behavior the authorities need to devise a better plan to combat it. Perhaps a national ID. I dont fear that anymore than the IDs I have to provide now and perhaps they will be harder to fake.

Now, with illegals using fake S.S. cards, that S.S. data is spread out over 3 data bases and it takes up to two weeks (or longer) for employers to get confirmation on a good or bad card. By then, the day and field work those illegals often get is over and the illegal is long gone. Cut off the employment opportunities for illegals is how the national ID card will severely limit their reasons for coming here in the first place.
Right..with no government money to provide that it's not going to happen.
Implementation has been put off and postponed several times.

Just watch..it will be postponed again.

Indeed, what a country...but this is what happens when knee-jerk, bury your head in the sand extremists allowed others to destroy the freedoms and principles of our great country.

Way to go Republican's....way to be anti-American.
Txgolfer. Are you too lazy to even glance at the Dept of Homeland Security link that I provided? Yes the bill was passed in 2005. I'm not disputing that. I'm WELL AWARE of that. What YOU FAIL TO REALIZE is that the law as written was not supposed to go into effect until TODAY. I don't start threads without knowing my position is correct.

I'm not a right-winger and I blame EVERYONE who voted for it originally and who since then have done nothing to repeal it.

the real question is why would you NOT want a national id???..what are you hiding???

you already have a national id number(ss) why not have a card with a picture on it??? are you afraid the big bad boogyman will come???

or do you advocate making this cost so much more because there are 51 standards....you do understand what a STANDARD is..correct

Unfunded mandates. If the Fed requires this then at least pay the states and employers to implement it.

Why fix what is not broke ? The problems are not the ID's my friend.
Our problems are bigger than a national ID card which, more than likely, will be in the black market weeks after it hits the streets.

but having a SINGULAR national id and database..and not 51 different databases would actually eliminate much of the eronoius info out there...and lower costs

ie
snuffy smith of nevada..nevada numberxxx-xx-xxxx has a conviction of ______...and snuffy smith of new york, new york number xxx-xx-xxxx has a conviction of

or
a national id

snuffy smith of nevada , national number xxx-xx-xxx1 and snuffy smith of new york national number xxx-xx-xxx2 both have convictions of _____

a national standard show the difference between the two..while the SEPERATE databases could easily get mixed up...and doing things 51 times is more costly
