It would make just as much sense to say the same about those who are anti-gay. In other words, it doesn't make sense at all.

Apparently someone forgot to tell those still seeking help.

Yeah, probably part of the 32% of Americans who still think homosexuality should be illegal. They're not doing any favors for the mental health of those who are struggling with their same-sex attractions.

I'd imagine that number is rather miniscule.

"Anti-" is not germane. We're talking about proclivities, not prejudices.

But hey. Knock yourself out. Start a thread about straights visiting therapists to cure them of their need for the opposite sex.

Maybe Jerry Brown will pick it up and run with it. California's rolling in dough these days.

Interesting comparison. Do heterosexuals ever get beat up for who they are? Threatened? Harassed? Treated as second rate citizens?

Of course they don't.

No one seems to complain when some TransGendered person decides to undergo extensive invasive, mutilating, expensive surgery to change who they are. Just because some homosexuals seem happy with who they are, why must everyone conform to your way? Seems a bit hypocritical to me. As well as just another chance to bash Bachmann. Geeeeez.
Sure the client can try if they want to. But an ethical honest therapist would present honest research results from reputable sources on so-called reparative therapy to a client first, so they can decide themselves if they want to waste $1000's and $1000's on ineffective and potentially harmful "therapy". It's part of "informed consent".

It doesn't work 30% of the time. It doesn't even work 1% of the time if someone is actually homosexual and not just a little bi-sexual.

Here is the 2009 report from the APA's task force on so-called reparative therapy. (aka pray away the gay)

And the questions have been answered.

Yes the people were from ex-gay religious ministries - often paid employees with an agenda. Even Spitzer himself has admitted that many of the people may have lied to him. He has also objected to the misrepresentation of this phone survey "study" by anti-gay groups.
