Are these people being "forced" into going to a counselor? I don't think so. The Left is quite pathetic these days as they see The Golden Child's poll #'s dropping like a lead weight.

I have an idea...If you don't want to go to a counselor, don't.

Did you even read your article?

He also said the participants appeared unusually skewed toward religious conservatives and people treated by therapists "with a strong anti-gay bias." Such participants might think that being a homosexual is bad and feel pressured to claim they were no longer gay, Haldeman said.

Some 43 percent of the sample had been referred to Spitzer by "ex-gay ministries" that offer programs to gay people who seek to change, organizations Haldeman said are chiefly sponsored by religious conservatives. An additional 23 percent were referred by the National Association for Research and Therapy of Homosexuality, which says most of its members consider homosexuality a developmental disorder.

David Elliot, a spokesman for the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force in Washington, also criticized the study because of the main sources of its participants.

"The sample is terrible, totally tainted, totally unrepresentative of the gay and lesbian community," he said.

True. I wonder if Michelle was staked out in the bushes during the gay pride parade to check if her husband was partaking in the parade.

Did you even read the article? The guy did 45 minute phone interviews and took only their word. If someone is severely depressed about homosexuality, especially those who are religious and feel it is wrong to have these feelings, they would be far more likely to seek out ways to "change" and would be far more likely to claim success. It is actually pretty tragic that these people feel so ashamed that they would seek to change something about themselves, and then enter into relationships where denial is the basis of committment. These types of therapy are about ignoring feelings to the point where you tell yourself you don't have them anymore. That is not change. Frankly, this is not a scientific study and Spitzer should be embarrassed to present it as such.

No one seems to complain when some TransGendered person decides to undergo extensive invasive, mutilating, expensive surgery to change who they are. Just because some homosexuals seem happy with who they are, why must everyone conform to your way? Seems a bit hypocritical to me. As well as just another chance to bash Bachmann. Geeeeez.
Transgender people, when they change, aren't in denial about how they feel. People who claim to be ex-gay, typically because of religion, are absolutely in denial.

If someone has a self hatred, for whatever reason, they are going to look for any way they can to deal with it. Gay people living as straight people, getting married and having kids, isn't something new and it will never go away. People hide parts of them self all the time in order to be accepted by whoever they want. While making homosexuality more acceptable might help some it's not going to bring everyone out, because some folks actually do feel their attraction to the same sex is wrong. And it would be just as damaging to try to change their minds as it would be to try to change someone who accepts themselves. That's humanity for you...all ugly and imperfect with no "one size fits all" solution to problems.

You don't "turn" straight or gay. You are. Period.

Would you want to be gay in current society? Or suffer as gays did in the past? You know killed, discriminated against in employment and housing.

It takes strength to recognize and accept who you are.

You see the bullying and lack of acceptance of gays in high school.
You see the hatred on CD.

So, do you see yourself turning gay in the future? Because what you're saying indicates that you could.
