This isn't a court of law and neither of us are judges.

I've never read the transcripts from O.J.'s trial, but I'm willing to wager that he killed his ex wife. I'm such an evil man, I know.
How can you expect someone to honor a debt that you can't prove is real? It's not like 1000 people stayed in hotel rooms and didn't pay on their way out. You have no information on the details of the agreement but you automatically assume the Tea Party is wrong for one simple reason, you hate the Tea Party and will start threads with any shred of info you find in an attempt to smear the group.

According to the article they didn't actually get anything, did you even read the story before making ignorant statements like the one above?

What details are you expecting? If Tea Party Nation said "pretty please" when canceling, or canceled before a certain date, the fees would be waived? Seems the resort has the details in their corner, whereas the TPN leader "has no comment at this time." And this is his second time in recent years being sued for such stuff.
What details does the resort have on their side?

If you did the math before you posted, you'd find out that they arent suing for cancellation fees.

Furthermore, the hotel cancellation policy is
VENETIAN CANCELLATION POLICY: 1 night refundable deposit is required when making a reservation. The credit card submitted will be charged when the reservation is made. Refunds will be issued on cancellations up to 14 days prior to arrival date.

So unless they cancelled the whole event within 2 weeks, its hogwash.

They tout fiscal responsibility but tonight a national Tea Party group headquartered in Franklin is accused of skipping out on a half million dollar hotel bill.

Fox News reported the same exact info that the first link you posted has, neither of them made the jump like you did assuming that one group was guilty based on your bigotry. The only person embarrassing themselves around here are those in this thread who are making ignorant accusations and claims against the group without having any information other than typical hate.

You should really think about getting a job with FauxNews, you have such an art for leaving out relevant passages from a quotation such as:

Quote:
"That may be common sense but it ain't contract law. When you contract with a service like the one's my company provides, by contract if you cancel within a certain period you are responsible for lost earnings for the period that you reserved for our services that we could have otherwise contracted with other clients. If we need to go to court to enforce those provisions in our contract, you are responsible for legal fees, lost earnings, and punitive damages if the law allows despite the fact that we didn't perform one second of the services that we were contracted to provide. Now I don't know or care about the particulars of this situation, other than to point out the difference between so-called common sense and common contract law."
