Rush Limbaugh is constantly pushing the idea that everything that FDR did to make America prosperous for several decades is bad.

Here's just eight of the historical reasons:

1. The 8-hour workday, overtime pay, and the federal minimum wage (Fair Labor Standards Act, 1938)

2. The G.I. Bill of Rights, first enacted in 1944 under FDR

3. The Civil Rights Act of 1964, enacted under Lyndon B. Johnson

4. The Social Security Act, enacted for limited recipients in 1935 under FDR and expanded under Harry Truman and LBJ

5. Medicare, which provides greatly subsidized health care to retirees

6. The Clean Water Act, first enacted under Truman in 1948

7. The Family and Medical Leave Act of 1993 (signed into law under Bill Clinton)

8. The Rural Electrification Act of 1936 (FDR)

So thank a Liberal today if your head didn't explode -- and maybe add a hug. Liberals need love, too!

1. The 8-hour workday, overtime pay, and the federal minimum wage (Fair Labor Standards Act, 1938)

All designed to cut worker hours so some of the 18.91% unemployment still present after six years of failed New Dealery would get sopped up.

We have tried spending money. We are spending more money than we have ever spent before and it does not work. And I have just none interest, and if I am wrong . . . somebody else can have my job. I want to see this country prosperous. I want to see people get a job, I want to see people get enough to eat. We have never made good on our promises. . . . I say after eight years of this administration we have just as much unemployment as when we started . . . . And an enormous debt to boot!

- Henry Morgenthau, Jr.

2. The G.I. Bill of Rights, first enacted in 1944 under FDR

Shame we had to get involved with Europe's war to get it.

3. The Civil Rights Act of 1964, enacted under Lyndon B. Johnson

Forced on Democrats who filibustered it. Republicans supported the Act all along. Typical of Democrats to take credit for something they opposed if it works and blame Republicans for it if it fails.

4. The Social Security Act, enacted for limited recipients in 1935 under FDR and expanded under Harry Truman and LBJ

Great. Have you figured out a way to pay for it?

5. Medicare, which provides greatly subsidized health care to retirees

See above.

6. The Clean Water Act, first enacted under Truman in 1948

7. The Family and Medical Leave Act of 1993 (signed into law under Bill Clinton)

8. The Rural Electrification Act of 1936 (FDR)

#1 If I were a racist I would thank them for #1, it doubled the unemployment rate of blacks and ended the practice of apprenticeship guaranteeing that whites would hold control of the business world. Actually it was southern racists who pushed for a minimum wage law.

#2 Good, help the Vets.

#3 Yep, government needed to not be allowed to be race based. Classical Liberals are for that. Racisim is group think.

#4 & 5, get back to us in 10 years.

#6 My community puts in our own filtration, we don't need the Feds

#7 More unintended consequences I imagine.

#8 GE thanks you!

Except FDR was too stupid to understand that minimum wage in some parts of the US = Middle Class but minimum wage in other parts of the country wouldn't even pay one month's rent and electric.

That is the act of a dictator, not the act of a benevolent ruler.

Oh, yes, the Grotesque Society that destroyed the Black Family, left millions in stagnant situations, destroyed cities, left the US with a legacy of criminals and cost the tax payer $3+ TRILLION which they are still paying for.

You left out the part about the *******s failing to fund it properly, and then stealing all the funds, leaving it insolvent and bankrupt.
Too bad you won't get any.

Yes, another program improperly funded and exploited to the point of collapse.

Another vague and burdensome law that cost employers $Billions in losses each year.

Sure, let's spend $30 Million to give two people electricity, even though they can't afford it, and can't afford to buy anything electric to use it.

That's not even 10% of what someone should be thanking a liberal for.

Heck, they should be thanking a liberal for the United States becoming independent of Britain.

That GOP party was also further to the left than JFK, LBJ, Clinton, Obama and Carter.

See Eisenhower and Roosevelt.

SS and Medicare were/are funded through 2040.

It's not our fault our "elected officials" raided it and replaced the dollars with IOUs (well it is technically, we can always vote out these treasonous douchebags).

As for #3, see my previous post. GOP of then is not the GOP of today, same thing with Dems. MLK was a Republican but those on the far right would call them (economically) a socialist today.

"the Medicare fund that pays hospital bills for older Americans is expected to run out of money in 2017, two years sooner than projected last year. The Social Security trust fund will be exhausted in 2037, four years earlier than predicted, it said."
