My God, is this what passes for debate here?

If soot caused us to leave an Ice Age in the 1600's what caused us to leave the earlier ones? But in any case, you miss the point: just because there are natural cycles doesn't mean that we're not able to influence climate.

And what does Al Gore have to do with the reality of climate change?

And it's all a conspiracy to... (fill in your own pet hate.)

And someone links to Dellingpole, who admits that he doesn't read the scientific papers but interprets other peoples' interpretations. There's an expression in English: "getting it from the horse's mouth." You, on the other hand, seem to prefer to get it from the other end of the horse.

Come on Guys, think of a convincing argument based on science as the rest of the world knows it.

Anybody that believes the south would be uninhabitable in 50 years because of global warming is clueless on this topic. You've taken the overblown extremeist view which is mostly the result of the media bait, line and sinker.

Is that what passes for a reasoned argument here?

Perhaps your view depends on how you see the original question? It is unlikely that the South would be totally unihabitable at all: there are few places on the Earth's surface where Man cannot live. IMO what the OP meant by "uninhabitable" is that a lot of adaption will be necessary to enable people to survive there.

(Of course I could be wrong. An equally valid option is that the OP may just have been posted to bring out the Global Warming deniers so that we can have some fun at their expense.)

BTW: I find it revealing of the mindset here that most of the climate change discussions seem to take place in the Politics and other controversies arena. For most of the rest of the world, it would be under Science.

"Climate change" discussions SHOULD BE in a political forum, as there is no hard evidence to

1. objectively verify or refute that temperatures are changing

2. that any temperature change has anything to do with man

3. that any intervention by man can make any difference

This is the completely shocking thing about those in the global warming cult, who claim to believe in science, but cling to a belief that has no basis in good science. It is ironic and nearly laughable.

How I see the original question is someone that is forming their opinions from watching MSM and other sources of extremist viewpoints.

Your moniker is misspelled. It should be "Voodoovalley". That's because you are under the spell of voodoo "science" called global warming. Last weekend the weather prognosticators called for rain on Sunday and Labor Day. No rain. Happens more often than not. If they can't predict weather 5 days out do you really believe they can predict climate 50 years out? Get real.

Amazing isn't it? If you take hurricane path predictions for example 30 years ago they were not so good at it. With the advent of computing power, a huge amount of accurate data and most importantly testing the models against known results over and over they have been able to refine their models to the point the predictions are fairly accurate.

....yet we're expected to believe these untested models with suspect data are accurate enough to predict climate which is much more complicated.

Oh come on: haven't you got anything better than putting your fingers in your ears and saying,"Lalalalal I can't hear you."

Fact: the greenhouse gas effect is real. Even Roy Spencer, the darling of the deniers, accepts it
Fact: Man has increased the level of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere and the sea
Fact: there is a continuing upward trend in the global temperature Data.GISS: GISS Surface Temperature Analysis: Analysis Graphs and Plots
(Note that temperature is only a proxy for the total heat content of the earth system, which is the most importent metric.)

Fact: I now anticipate a flurry of well known debunked denier bumper sticker slogons or inane 2 second sound bites. Please check here Global Warming and Climate Change skepticism examined for the most common ones so you don't reveal your lack of knowledge and/or understanding.

well if the OP was just "trying to bring out the GW deniers", it would be far more simple.

all they would have to do is post something valid and valuable to discuss on the topic.

We would then be able to engage in a rational discussion.

As it is we are left with the OP saying inane things that have no basis in science, and you offering platitudes suggesting we "deniers" don’t offer any science to discuss....

I have not seen you in these threads before. We have been going around this mulberry bush for a few years now. I for one have begged and pleaded with some members of the CAGW worshippers to engage in an actual discussion about the science.

About the closest thing I have seen is your team saying Willie Soon got a MILLION DOLLARS from Exxon.

So don’t show up here and tell us we don’t talk about the science. That’s what we WANT.
What we get are dufus comments like the south won’t be inhabitable in 50 years.

Oh and it is Global Warming SKEPTIC. Not denier.
