States will have to give up their state curriculum and go with the RTT core curriculum. That's one string attached to the waiver.

Seems to me like states are giving up their right to define their curriculum within the guidelines and take what the Fed gives them.
I understand your point, its a good one. But even Republicans are saying that RTT isn't a bad idea, setting a federal standard of educational growth is good. But then telling them how to get there, well thats bad.

The difference between NCLB and RTT, IMO.

Of course anything that might prove that government union teachers aren't doing their jobs must be eliminated. And King Obama should be allowed to end a Congressional law with another edict.

They will still gauge progress through standardized testing and they will hold teachers accountable for failing schools. This is RTT.

The teachers will be evaluated on how many of their students pass the standardized tests.
So, if Johnny can't read, it's not Johnny's fault and it's not his parents fault. It is the teacher's fault.
And this is better than NCLB ?

Yup..that's it. It's the teachers' fault. And that is in schools all across the nation, union or not. There must be an agenda out there that teachers are NOT supposed to teach Hispanic/Black students so they fail on the state tests.

You have the same poor test scores of Blacks/Hispanics in non-union states. It has nothing to do with unions.

Your problem of low student scores starts years before the kids even enter school. It's a cultural problem that starts in the home and it's a problem that government cannot fix. That culture could be a culture of poverty, a culture of drugs, a culture that education means nothing. But we're too PC to actually admit it and try to deal with it.

NCLB actually expired in 2007. It was never officially reauthorized by Congress.

From the following link:

"Obama said he is allowing waivers because Congress refused to act since NCLB expired three years ago. "

And it's still wrong, and proves the government knows nothing about actual education.T.

It's a fault on both ends.

If it continues the failed policies, no, it's not.

So why do we keep throwing money at it?
All white schools have done worse and worse too.
