A good step in the right direction for america, Obama will begin ending another in the long line of Bush admin disasters today by phasing out no child left behind in 10 states.
"NCLB Waivers Let Team Obama Seize Control of Your Child's Education"
"But the Obama administration wouldn’t wait for the legislative process to work. Instead, it told Congress that time was up. From here on, it decreed, the Education Department would start exempting states from the law, provided they agreed to abide by the administration’s preferred policies.
And that’s the catch: these are not simply waivers to provide relief to states from the onerous provisions of No Child Left Behind. These are conditions-based waivers, and the strings attached to this “relief” further tether states to Washington."
The problem with National Standards is that they mandate all schools teach the same politicized curriculum and they remove Education from State and Local control, even though it is delegated as such per the Tenth Amendment (which conveniently isn't emphasized much in the National Curriculum!) To learn more about this, I recommend Allen Quist's very informative, fact-based books, "Fed-Ed: The New Federal Curriculum and How its Enforced" & "America's Schools: Battleground for Freedom." Both these books are available at Amazon where you can peruse informative reader reviews.
It would appear that the dictator (a.k.a dear leader) is no longer in training but has gone full fledged. It is high time the state legislatures return to the process of nullification.

Seriously do people even try to think before posting from a right wing website? Oh that's right that don't, otherwise they wouldn't be reading that garbage to begin with. Grow up people.
NCLB was a solid idea that failed due to very poor execution. The problem with FED programs is that everybody and their brother needs to get their piece of the pie. Add to this very corrupt Unions fighting any form of accountability. Add more to this school districts that seek to cheat and use funds for other purposes. Then you had states cheating and telling school districts what to focus on to pass the tests.
Who cant pass a test when they know what the questions will be?
You're right, but Bush signed it. It's his bill and he has full responsibility for it (using right wing logic here)
ok..fine
bush signed it and has full resposibility
good then..bush signed a bill that will HELP THE POOR MINORITIES and the poorer states
obama and the liberals want to hurt the poor and the minorities
there you have it in a nut shell
“Wouldn't it be great if we could look forward to a whole world in which no child will be left behind?”
Colin Powell quotes (Chairman of the US Joint Chiefs of Staff (1989-93).
“Our children are our greatest resource. Our public policy must reflect our values. " Barbara Mikulski(D) quotes

In this alternative universe of theirs reaffirming states' rights is construed as the President seizing control.
And who do we have to thank in the first place for the misguided legislation that was No Child Left Behind?
Waiting ...
