Tuesday, over 2000 union protesters rolled into Springfield, IL, to protest Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker, speaking at the Illinois Chamber of Commerce.
From Pastor T. Ray McJunkins -
And Goliath will come down, Scott Walker we send you back to Wisconsin as David did Goliath, we cut your head off and go back into town, singing a new song!
Even though he specified in the sentence before the part you quoted that he was talking about the "stone of equal rights" (which you left out), I do object to using the language and metaphors of violence when speaking of one's political opponents. I think he went over the line just as Ted Nugent did.
Quote:
Load your slings up today when we leave here, putting a smooth stone of equal rights at the collective bargaining table and throw it at Goliath
If I could specify more clearly what bothers me is when people speak of doing violence to specific people or groups of people, because even if it is metaphor, it can encourage those who might act violently.
However, there is other language that perhaps had its origins in violence, but has come to have additional meaning that is not violent. For instance, I don't have a problem with the Republican claim that Obama is encouraging "class warfare" (even though I don't agree), or the Democratic claim of the Republican "War on Women".
4. active hostility or contention; conflict; contest: a war of words.
5. aggressive business conflict, as through severe price cutting in the same industry or any other means of undermining competitors: a fare war among airlines; a trade war between nations.

LoL, this dose of hypocritical thought is brought to you by the council of Do What I Say, Not What I do...chaired by Ted Nugent, Sarah Palin, and Sharon Angle.
If their comments are just fine the best thing to do is realize you aren't fooling anyone.
If Walker's head is still attached then it's a figurative. If you don't know the difference between that and literals you should probably go back to grade school English. He said it was cut off, not to go and cut his head off. Which makes sense in the sense they have broke the opposition.
If that hasn't dented your morale, please view this youtube clip how I feel about this raging stupidity and hypocrisy...that seems to happen over and over and over.
Didn't Nugent just get called on this!! What's up with "cut your head off" statements going around!!
What most don't realize Nugent was using it in as "cut the head off the snake", statement. The Obama union supporter's I don't think that's their thinking. More like singing a new song..........
Be interesting to see if Secret Service finds this man of interest.
