I haven't said anything about states vs federal, so you are arguing against points no one has made. The point is that some one built them, and some one paid for them, and everyone benefits. You benefit from them too, although you do not want to admit it.

He credited families and coaches instead of unions and govnerment. OUTRAGEOUS!

You are right, the tax payers ARE the government. We've paid for the roads and schools and fire department. No one is disputing that all those things are neccessary for EVERYONE, but just because we have a business does not mean we are MORE RESPONSIBLE for those things than someone else. We've paid for them already! The point that Romney made is that the athletes didn't make it on their own, because they didn't. They didn't pay for a single solitary thing. !

If this isn't partisan hack statement of the year, I don't know what is.
So I supposed the youth hockey player and the figure skaters paid 2k to 5k per season, before they were 18 and got that $ on their own?

The words are very similar, but the subject matter is significantly different,...or do you not understand the difference? Romney said:
“Tonight we cheer the Olympians, who only yesterday were children themselves,” Romney said. “As we watch them over the next 16 days, we affirm that our aspirations, and those of our children and grandchildren, can become reality. We salute you Olympians – both because you dreamed and because you paid the price to make your dreams real. You guys pushed yourself, drove yourself, sacrificed, trained and competed time and again at winning and losing.”
That stands in stark contrast to what Obama said:
If you’ve been successful, you didn’t get there on your own. ...........I’m always struck by people who think, well, it must be because I was just so smart. There are a lot of smart people out there. It must be because I worked harder than everybody else. Let me tell you something -- there are a whole bunch of hardworking people out there.

Olympians do the hard work and most get there because they are endowed with a gift of atheleticism and the tenacity to hone that gift to world-class competition. Their friends and family encourage them to excell,...but the government does not subsidize their efforts as Obama claims in the business world. In Obama's quote above, he ridicules the businessman for being "smart" and "hard working", something that Romney does not do.

If you can't see the difference, then one has to question your ability to think.

Most practice facilities, used by Olympians, growing up, are funded by the government, state, federal or local or get tax breaks from the government to keep going.

Oh, he credited the government, too--did you miss that? You know, all of those "community built venues." Not sure where Obama credited unions with anything when he spoke, but I'm sure you wouldn't just make that up, right?

You liberals can spin this any way you wish, but the FACT remains that Romney didn't insult the business community with his remarks. If there is an uproar from the Olympic community, I've not hear it.

Now compare that to the comments that Obama made regarding the business community,...the backbone of America's economy, and tell me which is most important. The backlash from business is still going strong.

You Republican hater just cannot stand the fact that Obama has taken a huge hit for his mouth, and are desperately trying to find something to deflect attention away from Obama's attack on the business community. Keep up the good fight,....Obama needs all the help he can get. He just gave Romney a huge pile of ammunition that will last through the summer, and will help drive Obama from the White House.

You know DAMN WELL, that is NOT what Obama even indirectly said!
Both what Romney and Obama said are correct.
Just go away.

Haven't any of you Obamabots ever been to an event of some kind and heard a speech that starts something like "I would like to thank all those that made this event possible."? Romneys speech is one of those and it is true that there were plenty of people involved that made this happen so the athletes could participate. It doesn't apply the same way to a business.

How about some of you left leaners watching the entire Romney speech that came as the introductory at the opening ceremonies. Here is a chance to hear the whole thing so the part NBC took out of context so as to fool all of you. Here is the whole Romney speech that, again was to all the Olympians gathered in the stadium waiting for the torch to come into the place.

Here is an excellent opportunity to compare the words of the two men to prove that NBC fooled you people. Please notice that this video is from C-Span, just in case you want it to be something that Fox has dubbed or something like that.

Yeah Obama upsets small business community in the US with his statement, Romney upsets liberals who have nothing to do with the olympics. Good work Romney even though he didn't even realize at the time how rabid they would be ten years later. LOL
