Exactly - and really when you add it all up, welfare provides a lot more than working for a living does. If someone lives on minimum wage, it's possible they won't afford a cell phone, but the government even gives cell phones to the welfare crowd.

It's time to get all those with 2 arms and 2 legs that function and have IQs over 70 off welfare handouts and doing something productive.

no jobs, no welfare - then what?
Even FDR as big government as he was didn't just hand people a free and very comfortable living. Those government work programs weren't very efficient, people had to show up but the lazy would just stand with a shovel doing little but at least it got them out of bed and out pretending to do something and there actually were many successful projects as a result.

Today there is much the welfare recipients could do, they could clean up streets, remove graffitti, pick up broken glass and trash from parking lots, plant trees, harvest crops, pick fruit.

Conservatives AND DemoRATS live in a fantasy world where they think "welfare" helps these invalids. When most of the time nothing good comes from their existence. The republicans pander and give the liberals leeway when they should be trying to crush them at any opportunity. The democrats I consider less than human, the terrorists and the enemy and we should treat them as such.

The incentive is to aquire a skill set or education that pays more than minimum wage or welfare, the truth is no one is living large on welfare. Should welfare be reformed so that some lazy healthy people are pushed off it, sure, but to think that the majority of people drawing it fall in that catagory is ludicrous.

Ironically, it was the conservatives who were the most vociferous critics government jobs programs. Go figure.
