I'll start by stating I joined the Republican party when I was 16. I left the party after 20 or so years as there was no room for an Eisenhower/moderate Republican. The Tea Party with its extreme right ideology and over-the-top rhetoric on social issues has been a complete turn off for folks like me.
The Republican Party should throw these people out of the party.
The question is, has, or will, the Tea Party and/or extreme right ideology destroy the Republican Party?

First of all, the "R" party can't throw anyone to the dogs, these representatives were elected to office by American voters.
The wheels of the "R" party have been falling off of the wagon for years. There aren't very many "moderates" any longer. The party itself took a hard right turn.
The Tea Party has destroyed not only the Republican Party but almost destroyed our country these past four years. The Republicans need to split their party up or the moderates in the party need to grow some balls.

Yeah, the thought of small goverment, is clearly destroying the party..
NOT..
What you going to do when the US Cant borrow anymore money to continue to fund the federal debt and massive cuts need made on those programs that help the poor?
The far right has rejected or kicked in the crotch Hispanics,Women, blacks, gays to name a few. All the while embracing the evangelical right who wants to take us back to the 14th century. It was soundly rejected last night. Bachmann was the only one to bearly hang on. West lost in Florida, Walsh, Akin and Murdock all lost. If the GOP continues to hold on to the crazy Glenn Beck types it will continue to loose.
This election has demonstrated that the country has no appetite for Tea Party style conservatism. The GOP needs to move back to the center. They need to drop the social conservatism, be more minority friendly and focus on fiscal conservatism.

That makes no sense when the alternative was more spending. We all know Obama is cutting spending and deficits, he said so.
