So again, you're wrong, in fact, should get the school an extra 500,000 or more a year.
You said $50K to install.
Who's wrong ?

There's no guarantee they will get that much money. The kids have to show up remember ?
Having an RFID ID does not guarantee attendance.

I was looking at one school, the initial proposal is one high school. The entire district, of course would coat more.

The other individual said it would cost a million or more. Even counting the entire district, 500000 is a lot less the 1 million.

I've got to side with the righties on this one. Pretty scary to track humans like cattle. It crosses the the line into the amoral.

What is amoral about using technology to their advantage when it will most likely result in more money for the school to spend on a better education for the students?

Is there any evidence to suggest that they can/will "track" the students off the school campus and into other parts of San Antonio? Why would the school care where the students go after or before the school day?

I agree. Once out of school, the students no longer have to wear the ID anyway. And lots of teenagers here use aps like Loopt to track each other so apparently being tracked doesn't bother them too awful much.

Whats wrong with taking attendance the old fashioned way and putting the RFID money towards actually educating the students who willingly show up to learn.?

The Hernandez family decided to take action against the school with the help of the Rutherford Institute, a civil liberties and human rights group which immediately took the view that the school district is looking for more public funding, which it can only receive if there is proof of positive student attendance rates. Rutherford attorneys filed a petition for the aforementioned TRO, as well as immediate injunctive and declaratory relief alleging that the school’s actions violate Hernandez’s rights under Texas’ Religious Freedom Act, the First Amendment, and the Fourteenth Amendment.
“The court’s willingness to grant a temporary restraining order is a good first step, but there is still a long way to go—not just in this case, but dealing with the mindset, in general, that everyone needs to be monitored and controlled,” John W. Whitehead, president of The Rutherford Institute, said in a statement. While the TRO has been granted, a hearing on the preliminary injunction will take place next week.
“Regimes in the past have always started with the schools, where they develop a compliant citizenry,” Whitehead continued. “These ‘Student Locator’ programs are ultimately aimed at getting students used to living in a total surveillance state where there will be no privacy, and wherever you go and whatever you text or email will be watched by the government.”

That RFID just guarantees that the student ID badge is in the building people.

Remove teachers actually taking attendance in the classes..think about that, especially in high school.

Who is going to catch kids cutting class now ? It's not going to be the teachers in the classroom anymore.

Is this about the kids or about the money ?
