It won't hurt the Republicans that they're angry because these are die-hard Obama supporters. So yes, Obama will simply play the blame-game and his adoring fans will tune into Letterman to ooh and aah over him the same as they always do.
Do you not understand where the costs are coming from?

They are coming from Medicare and SS. THOSE are the programs that most worry everyone. They are the cuts that will be on the chopping block.

Yet ~ all old people want to talk about is welfare and unemployment.

It's your Medicare and the SS that you have been drawing that are the main drivers of cost.

Maybe a little riot here and there might show the rest of the Naive Americans how serious the situation is and how entitlement will actually affect them, maybe not now as they are loathing in their coach drinking fancy wines and talk about some books or some plays and talk about their electric cars

The top priority of any Congress is reelection.

It's a game of cat and mouse. Everyone knows that Medicare has to change because as is, it is unsustainable. Age and means testing is a start at the front end. The real costs are loaded at the back end, end of life care.

The only senile ones are those who think out of control spending is fixed by more spending. Of course they can't discuss policy since theirs are complete failures so they can always fall back on the racists comments like your post here.
I see very little in cuts to the Dept of Defense. Once again the party of war will continue to occupy and invade nations while running up a huge bill for the Dept of Defense.
Richard Steele was right, this is Obamas war and he's too much of a war monger to bring the troops home and protect our borders like the Constitution says. But who cares about the rights of those in the Middle East? They're just animals so we can throw their property rights out the window, right.

Keep going back to the poisonous well.

We have 83 means tested welfare programs costing near $1 trillion per year as of 2011.
I'm sure it's grown since then with reports of new record highs of people applying for these programs in 2012.

SS/medicare is not included in that.

Medicare, as is, is not sustainable and poses the greatest longer term risk to the economy than anything else. One way or another it will become age and means tested on the front end. That's a start but not where the real costs are buried.

More than half of Medicare $ are spent on elderly patients who die within two months. And that final two months is no cake walk for the patient. Quality of life sucks.

Which means it won't hurt the Republicans. Republicans understand that EVERYONE needs to do some belt tightening because Obama has run up the national debt to ridiculous levels.

None of those long-term unemployed voted Republican -- so it's not going to matter at all if Obama simply tries to pass the blame. They'll simply have to get off their hind ends and work if they want money -- the free ride comes to an end Jan 1.

Medicare will be affected -- those who paid in for 50 years will be shafted -- we all knew that would be the case with Obama winning. Those how never paid in will be highly rewarded because Obama has made it clear that he intends to give them that money.

Yes, but aren't we all in this together for the betterment of the country? So you are saying the President is only interested in doig things his way and not for the betterment of the country? At least Clinto knew what it took to compromise and work together. This fool in the WH would rather operate out of spite.

Exactly -- like the liberals are admitting --- Obama is doing "Negotiation 101". Very immature of him.

Malamute - were you ok with the changes to Medicare that Romney proposed?
