Not sure why people would go out of their way to offend people, but different strokes for different folks. Personally I always try to put myself in someone elses shoes, even if I disagree with them.
Good for you, because that's the way we should all think. Sometimes I say something really stupid and then I feel badly about it. Nobody's perfect! However, we all need to put ourselves in another person's situation.

I disagree, although I'm sure there are some people who go to extremes.

There's a big difference between being too politically correct (which I believe we are sometimes) and being insensitive.
YOU believe people shouldn't get offended. Who made you the decision maker on what people, especially of mexican descent in this case, should be outraged from. If you want to insult people, you should be ready to accept the outrage that comes with it.
OK, fine. But people don't have a right to NOT be offended. So, people should just be insulted and keep it movin'

^^^This. Golden rule and all that. I suppose that idea is lost on some.

There is no moral or legal obligation to not be insensitive.
Shrug... The photo was funny. That's like the photo if the kid that painted his face black so he could look like his idol, a black footballer.
Everyone got upset because they are stupid and hypersensitive.
I bet the majority of people upset aren't even Mexican... Hmmm....
So its ok for George Lopez to make fun of White people on national television, but its not ok for a group of sorority students to do their thing?
You all would be outraged if you watched Jimmy Kimmel every night where he cracks racial jokes on his staff.
He is a comedian for pity's sake. I suppose if you have a daughter or wife you would want them to talk like Chelsea Handler or Kathy Griffin around the dinner table? You can't see the difference?
What the hell is this society coming to? Sorority photo called racist....
Yeah...
And another thing...
Ever notice how your old high school went straight into the toilet the year after you graduated (if you graduated)?
