It is laughable to see people on here taking the Daily Mail seriously and thinking it somehow accurately represents the opinion of the average British citizen. If anything, I guarantee you that the large majority of Scottish people will lose absolutely no sleep over Obama's decision.
Why not? This will be a busy week for the president pushing gun control issues. Really, they couldn't even spare that moron Biden? This is a truely classless move by a classless president.
It would seem logical to send people who served during the Thatcher era and had some connection to international diplomacy.
George Shultz and James Baker, both served as secretaries of state during the her time as PM, would be the right choices.
Since so many of you conservative types love Thatcher so much, why don't you hop your own asses in a plane at your expense and attend the funeral? Ya know...since its so important to you.
Why are you demanding that we spend taxpayer dollars to send Obama to a funeral for someone that hasn't been a player in two decades?

Okay fine but they are no longer S.O.S., but who's the current president of the USA?
Slapping faces is one thing Obama has practice in.
There's no party and golfing afterwards is why he isn't attending imo.
He only cares for himself and nobody who died even Americans imo.

Which is why a sh.tload of the countries who sent former PMs and the like to Ronald Reagan's funeral will be sending ambassadors to Thatchers'.
Agreed!Obama is not going because he can't profit for himself imo.

She's dead...get over it.
Obama is POTUS - he imo should be representing the USA.

This is not about any one political party.
We have just suffered an unspeakable act of terrorism; if President Obama went, the RW would scream to the heavens that he's deserting America in a time of need. The delegation appointed is comprised of well-respected (for some) senior officials who knew and worked with her, which is fitting. President Obama has enough to deal with to take the time to make such a trip. Myself, I'd prefer that he remain here to deal with Boston, North Korea, etc.
All living former US presidents were invited to attend...none of them are. Where is the outrage that Bush I, Bush II and Clinton are not attending.
Bush I is probably too sick...his health is NOT good. Bush II only knew her as one of Bush I's kids. Clinton...he never dealt with her.
Nancy Reagan is probably too frail to go too. Kissenger and Schultz worked with her, they are good people to go. BUT Osama should send a current government official as a "courtesy" since the Brits are our biggest allies.

Shame on the Osamas ^^^^^^. I sure hope the people who voted PC have learned their lesson. Colin Powell was the only one you should have voted for. (if he had run)
