Just because someone is "Hispanic" or "Latino" does not make them a racial minority anymore than an immigrant from, say, Poland, is a minority. MAYBE an "ethnic" minority, even though Latinos are not ethnically the same anymore than Europeans are ethnically the same.
Now, if they want to say, "people of predominantly European ancestry" are less than 50% of new births, that's a different way to look at things.
Though even then it still makes little sense where Latin American ethnicity is also broad and multi-faceted, and draws from people from all around the world.

Us as black people do not care if and when Latinos over take us in population numbers. We never was number one any way. As a people, we have a long history of struggle but we still find a way to make it through. The only people I see worried about Latinos is European Caucasians ( whites). I do not see Asians and other ethnicity groups care or worry about Latinos. White people also worry about Muslims as well. Maybe they have have a point with that one because Muslims are always trying to kill or blow up Caucasians because that is who they have beef with ideology wise.
