That's strange. I'm around black people quite a bit (a hell of a lot more than you...that's for sure), and i can't remember celebrating anything relating to murder. I mean, yea...we've watched Scarface and Casino a few times, but i can't remember celebrating it.

Still though, i'm not around folks that celebrate a culture of murder, and i'm with my people quite a bit.
In fact, i do have the complete boxset of The Wire. I've got EVERY street violence flick in my collection worth watching because that's my thing. Not to mention that i think The Wire is the greatest television show in the history of mankind.
And i don't listen to Waka Flocka....i generally don't like rap from the South.
I can agree with that..but only under the premise that nobody should celebrate the achievements of their race/ethnicity at all. And that, of course, will never happen.

I just don't get it. Maybe you can explain. How can someone make a statement like this without acknowledging the adversity that pretty much everyone in this country had to overcome if they were not a white (Anglo Saxon) male? surely we all realize the accomplishment of men who were white in this country, but women, blacks, Asians, etc. were often not even given basic opportunities to get an education in many cases. you can't see the difference? really?

Half of your argument I agree with... white achievement is glorified in this country. Maybe unjustifiably so. But even if you were to argue hypothetically under the premise that whites and blacks were on equal footing as far as social status and level of education etc. etc.
Blacks were/are still the extreme minority in this country. So naturally, whites would have achieved at a higher clip on the WHOLE. Unless, you are arguing there IS division and specialization along racial lines.
Achievements based on race should not be glorified, at all.
