DC is confirming once again why their current status as a district remains a good idea.

The stores that aren't open can afford to pay 12 dollars an hour because they already make enough money in a week to do so?

And I suppose it's perfectly OK with you that some employers have to pay 50% more than others in the same market because you think so?

Apparently the profit margins at unopened stores are much higher.

Socialism. Pure socialism. And I've never said that before on this forum on any political thread. But when the government divides not only the citizens into classes but also the companies, requiring those with supposed larger bounties to pay more for the same labor with those that have higher profit margins it is just that.

If you support this, you are saying that someone doing the exact same job for a smaller employer is worth less money per hour than those at WalMart. If that's your logic then I'm giving up on the middle way.

That's not what I'm saying. I just want to see what happens. I'm looking at it more as an experiment and I'm curious of the outcome...

The latest version of the Large Retailer Accountability Act would require outlets of some major retailers to pay a “living wage” of no less than $12.50 an hour, significantly more than the D.C. minimum wage of $8.25.
So basically,

When the powers that be in good ol' DC say "8.25 is good enough for the likes of you", that's perfectly fine.

When Wal-Mart does the exact same, that's evil.
