Stand-Your-Ground is far older than today’s mainstream media, racial activists, or impresarios...
Stand-Your-Ground doctrine dates back to when the United States numbered a mere 38 states, the Indiana case of Runyon v. State, 57 Ind. 80 (1877)
Quote:
The tendency of the American mind seems to be very strongly against the enforcement of any rule which requires a person to flee when assailed, to avoid chastisement or even to save a human life . . . [Therefore,] [t]he weight of modern authority . . establishes the doctrine that when a person, being without fault and in a place where he has a right to be, is violently assaulted, he may, without retreating, repel force by force, and if, in reasonable exercise of his right of self-defence, his assailant is killed, he is justifiable.
[quote=tillman7;30611850]In response and due to the ‘stand your ground’ law on the books in florida! Along with the great stevie wonder, the following acts have canceled (all) of their up-n-coming concert dates, in and around florida, indefinitely!!! Or until the law in florida is abolished.

Hmmm.....I don't see Stevie Wonder on that list. Perhaps he changed his mind after reading his home state's (Michigan) stand-your-ground statute.
While I know the boycott story is false; if it was true I think the response would be a little more than "oh who cares? I don't even know them."
As someone who lives in Orlando, I know how important it is for cities to book concerts. Especially concerts that will most likely sell out like some of the artists on the list. Basketball season don't last forever. That's a lot of taxpayer money, not to mention revenue for businesses, restaurants transportation, advertising to be lost if artists stop performing in your area.
While I doubt it's likely to happen, you can bet if it ever does there will be some backroom meetings going on quick, fast and in a hurry. While we all sit here ans squabble about what's morally right, the people pulling the strings are just trying to make sure they're millions are protected.
Other than the rabid fans and haters, what makes you think everyday Joe or Jane U.S.A. doesn't have to defend themselves against crazy people and/or those intent on doing them harm?
Never said anything to the contrary, so why are you attempting to give me a red herring?

You are seriously naïve. Ever see celebrity homes? They have signs posted everywhere saying their security systems summon an armed response.
Key word: homes. As in, where they live. As in, not in the tour bus traveling around the United States. And you call me naive? At least I know the difference between a stationary home and a moving vehicle.
