Look at the 100 million dollars spent on food stamps for those in the military. Should we not hold our gov't to the same standard as private corporations in the free market. We have enough to redesign the interior of the White House with every new President and give our Rep and Senators 1-2 Million to redo their offices but not enough to provide for our servicemen and women who are risking their lives?

Welfare spending jumps 32% during Obama's presidency

You are out of touch. And severely misinformed.
I'm sorry, but you just don't. You somehow think a 32% increase in welfare spending is a "cut." Just one example.
Oh jeez.. more right-wing talking points:

You can verify all points in the 2015 White House Budget. All discretionary spending has trended down since 2010.

You don't deny that the separation between the very richest American & the poor has grown more recently than ever before, do you?
Sure sindey lets see if i can help you?

"Corporate earnings were in 2012 $1.75 trillion, up 18.6% from a year ago, according to last week's gross domestic product report. That took after-tax profits to their greatest percentage of GDP in history." And alot of this on government subsidies, tax breaks and low paying wages.

That's because the middle class is the one footing all the bills. Let the gov't start by being an example of by not providing providing health care and and all the other perks that the President, Senators and Congressmen receive. Most are all millionaires and can well afford their own health care after retiring.

You're condemning Walmart but how about all the immigrants working for pennies on the dollar while the farmers and corporations who own most of the farming reap the profits.

Do I like it that CEOs make millions, while the real workers get peanuts - no - but that's the free market.

As others said - start you own business - Walmart wasn't always what it is today. Sam Walton bought a branch of the Ben Franklin stores and made it what it is today.

Now let's suppose that you did start a business and succeed - I'm sorry but I doubt very much that you would be paying your employees, cashiers and stock people, much more than the going rate.

75% of the welbeing of our economy is based on buying and selling of goods. There is nothing wrong with being rich, the problem with being too rich is it hurts our economy. Take for example The top 10 percent of earners took more than half of the country's total income. Now being rich isn't a sin ok. But the top 10% is such a major minority. So they can buy so many pillows or cars etc which hurts our economy. Further the 10% open hold on to the majority of there money that why they are in the 10%. Now take the ideal of, the more you pay your middle class and poor employees(the huge majority) the more they buy goods, which means more profits to corporations etc, which makes our countries economy strong.

Tribal lands set their own rules.

Medical technology was also much more primitive back then; the germ theory of disease wasn't fully accepted until after 1920 after all and medicine was still taught via apprenticeship until the mid 1920's.
No indian schools were goverment, privately ran schools that took native americans after the goverment conquered them and sent them to this schools to be reeducated. They were brutal with tons of human rights violations, rapes, abuse, assult of indians and murder. They punished indians for speaking there languages and practicing there spiritual beliefs. This our what happens without goverment to protect people and orphanages.

Means-tested social welfare programs aren't discretionary spending. They're mandatory spending.

You clearly have no clue what you're talking about.

People working minimum wage are working minimum wage because they have no skills. Skills are not free, especially not in conservative la la land. How do you propose someone on food stamps increase their skills? Maybe they should starve until they finish training...?

Skills are free - training is provided is most school districts through the BOCES programs. Every union has training courses - my dad taught classes to those wishing to become pipefitters - those pipefitters make more money than my dad ever saw in his lifetime and have great pensions.

Here's a story:

My son graduated in the top 10% with another young man, Nick, who was his friend. Despite qualifying for many scholarships, Nick decided he didn't want to have a lot of debt when he graduated and decided to go to community college first. After community college he applied to and was accepted at one of the best schools in the area but didn't like it and dropped out. He worked as a laborer in a plant for 2 years while living at home and paying room and board but had no ambition to better himself. Unfortunately, he was laid off.

He sat on his butt for 2 1/2 years while living with his parents and had no income coming in or medical insurance. His parents charged him room and board, hoping that would compel him to get a job or go back to school. Didn't work - after his savings ran out - he got a job stocking at Target and to this day 3 years later - he's still at Target and still does not have medical insurance. Now why should I feel sorry for him and provide a subsidy for his medical insurance, when he doesn't care. He chooses to work at a minimum wage job. And there are many like him.
