Perhaps middle-aged mom should have qualified that to say the hysteria in this country to an epidemic occurring in Africa is more contagious than Ebola. And this ridiculously long thread of hysteria is proof she is right.

Very good point. Not in regards to the person you were directing this to but in general.

Then you write this. You think undocumented immigrants should be killing but aren't willing to -- but luckily we have other undocumented immigrants that want to cause us harm (like blowing up subways and other horrible things or passing on a disease like Ebola) where as the other ones are looking for work or escaping deplorable conditions. Am I reading you right? Are you joking??? Or, maybe you need to think about your position and narrow it down. Just a suggestion. Good luck...

Default NRA To Blame In Part For Ebola Crisis????

So this week, the Left's daily reminder of why you should hate the NRA took a new turn. MSNBC's Krystal Ball, and States United, claim that the NRA is in part responsible for the Ebola outbreak and the United States seemingly unoprepared plan to deal with it.

Wa-what???? They're really reaching this time, and it reeks of desperation.

This all stems from the NRA opposing Mr. Obama's nomination - Vivek Murthy - to the Surgeon General's chair over his comments about guns being a "public health crisis". Because of the NRA's opposition to the nomination, Harry Reid and the Senate Dems cowardly decided not to even go on record with a yea or nay vote for Murthy.

There are certainly many flaws with this argument. First of which is that we do in fact have an acting Surgeon General - Boris Lushniak - who has deferred public relations over the Ebola crisis to the CDC, at the CDC's request. Secondly, if a candidate can't get affirmed, for any reason, isn't it the presidents job to nominate a candidate who can get the votes? Though this administration has been the administration of shirking responsibility on to somebody, anybody, but themselves; the buck never stops with them. They're still blaming Bush six years in to their tenure for crying out loud, so why should this be any different? There is plenty of blame to go around for this, the least of it belongs to the NRA. The President, the Senatre Dems, Harry Reid, all appropriately share the blame.

I'd like to hear anyone from the Left try and defend this nonsense.

The NRA might be responsible for keeping this crisis from being worse than it might otherwise have been. The CDC has long tried to pursue ridiculous left-wing crusades like gun control and other nanny state ventures. The NRA has long opposed this, and with some success, which meant that more resources were available for the CDC to CONTROL DISEASE such as ebola.

I think if there are those who feel this thread is to long, then for goodness sakes, don't respond, easy peasy, right?

While you may feel the way you feel, there are others who are indeed afraid, that this thread may help them do some reasearch on their own and it may help them?

As far as I'm concerned, one person to many has died from the disease, and some people grieve for those loosing their lives in Africa.....

Is there a slight truth here? I mean if they have blocked the surgeon generals nomination....

LOL. This is just as bad as some of the stuff I see come out of Fox. First you take a truly insignificantly related topic, and then conflate it into a 1-1 relationship with a crisis.

Would we be better off with a surgeon general? Absolutely! Would they make a difference in a ebola response? Hmm..maybe. How much of a difference? Well...a little bit. And how about in the response to the current ebola in the us? Uhmmm....maybe a tiny tiny tiny bit-but probably not.

And then a partisan report turns that into a characterization that has very little to do with reality.

What foolishness.

The acting surgeon general deferring public relation to the CDC and that that is an issue, who better to address a possible epidemic?

The NRA does not like the CDC, they do not want any studies of deaths due to guns because they are special.

So why has Vivek Murphy not been approved, what are the transgressions that prevent him from becoming Surgeon General or do we just nominate someone that meets the NRA background check in spite of the Ebola issue.

By the way the legislature also has a responsibility to approve a nominee, are they not there to represent their constituents??
