still playing the partisan angle, I see. please explain how GOP policies help anyone but corporations and the filthy rich?
The middle class gets a lot less out of the federal government than they put. Are you seriously arguing that someone making a relatively average $50,000 salary benefits on the net from the bloated federal government which spends the vast majority of it's money on welfare & entitlements, an over-sized military, and interest on the debt ran up to finance those two things? As long as the average person doesn't have kids outside of wedlock they are unlikely to get large amounts of means-tested benefits, could finance a better retirement if they could keep more of their paycheck and invest it themselves, and no one except soldiers and military-industrial contractors gets any benefit from our massive overspending on defense.
Democrats often claim that GOP policies only help the rich, but on the federal level that's simply not true -- they help anyone who makes enough money to pay income tax and has a family structure (aka is not a single mother) that makes them unlikely to ever claim long-term needs-tested benefits. State and local that can sometimes be true but state and local government is a completely different animal.

to blame EITHER SIDE ALONE is worthless and useless. that was my point. Partisans are one of the biggest problems in this country. You feed the political climate that is destroying our country.
this is ONE country, not 2. there is no more unity. every one is out for their own selfishness while stepping all over everyone else.

The various retirement plans in the U.S. (union pension plans, 401Ks, etc.) hold over $27 trillion in investments. Tens of millions of working Americans, inluding public sector and private sector union members, depend on business-friendly GOP policies to enable the corporate profits that fund their retirement.
The jobs going away overseas does tie into why people aren't paid a "living wage" but on a bigger scale.
Minimum wage isn't a "living wage" because the market value of that labor in America is lower than the "living wage".
Jobs going overseas is because Americans earn more than the GLOBAL market value for their labor.
As the global market value for labor becomes the dominant force determining labor value, American's value will continue to decline towards the "lowest bidding" people that exist in the world. Global feel good humanity stuff will eventually turn American into something more like Somalia. There is no way to avoid that while still being part of a global community.
Good luck trying to convince any liberal or any minimum wage earners with this. You would be lucky that they don't BBQ you.

LOL...you might as well have typed "ignore this". All of those who love to point out evil greedy corporations will never accept that those evil greedy corporations are their neighbor, and indeed themselves in most cases. "I have seen the enemy, and it is me." LOL

Like I said before, there is a reason why certain people only make the minimum wage.
Could anybody from the supporters of this paying liveabld wage idea tell me where the money must come from to pay for the wage increase?
Any other points are moo until you can answer this question.
It comes from the unswerving love of their fellow man to overpay for something that they could get cheaper because they know that they have too much money and they want to give it away... They do not grasp the concept of market value and how that dictates what people earn. They believe that there is all kinds of "extra" money being hidden from them. They fail to realize that when they shop for the best deal for a product or service that they themselves are determining their own value.

The question was not addressed to bloodsucking and heartless capitalists like you who don't care about the hard working poor.
