Thanks for the thread and info dreamofmonterey-some useful idiots on here will defend nationless corporations no matter how much damage is inflicted on society at large.
Indeed
what strikes me as MAJOR cognitive dissonance is a lot of "earnest voice" elderly posters who get paid white trash wages defend soulless Corps on the internet. A very sad commentary on current US economy isn't it???? Shills post for corps, lie after lie.
I would never sell my soul that way. Plus I'm published

Precisely
Sad isn't it?
The paupers defending the 1% until their child dies of lead poisoning.
Business? What are you talking about? I'm talking about torts.
I don't live in your magic libertarian land. I like being able to go to the government (the courts) if somebody were to harm me - and refused to listen to me and compensate me for my injuries - and having the government force them to make me whole.
Yes- the people in WV who lost children due to coal slurry dumping (illegal) have court cases still pending.
Civil.
Criminal never applies to Massey and the 1% white collar Felons.
I think any1 here whose worked insurance defense KNOWS what is done to the poor Plaintiffs. Own up to facts now bcs water is now undrinkable in the southeast US
btw anyone drinking TAP water in several southeast regions better start researching, carcinogens, arsenic and silicate, all in people's drinking water.
These are FACTS. Cancer clusters are very high in East Tenn and Kentucky. Ohio River as well
Call your city water dept if you have kids.
By law they must disclose f toxins exist in your tap water. Carter County TN has a website. 80 toxins including Lead and heavy metals.
Even just cooking or boiling the water will not be a medical preventative

The extremity of rw corporate fawning is CLEARLY VISIBLE here...
when your child dies of lead poison from Melamine, products made in China, or a negligent landlord (esp Wall St owned complexes)
Turn off korporate media paid tv from Bank of Amerika.
RW people, if your child dies from lack mold or lead poisoning, do you give corporate greed mongers a free pass in a Court of Law......I highly doubt it.
Many parents have been lulled into believing that lead paint in children’s toys is a thing of the past. The use of lead in products marketed to children was banned in the U.S. in 1978, but it is still used in the manufacturing of children’s toys in other countries. These defective product liabilities may require that you speak with a defective product attorney. The lure of cheap imported toys
Some of our biggest toy retailers, including Toys R Us and Wal-Mart, have chosen to sell cheap toys imported from China. While this allows them to sell massive amounts of toys at low prices, it has also allowed inferior, harmful products to make their way into the hands of thousands or millions of children.
Mattel, Fisher Price, and Disney recalls have made headlines recently, but brand name toys are not the only culprits. Toys and children’s jewelry dispensed from vending machines have also been found to contain lead. How children are exposed to lead in toys
Simply handling the lead contaminated toys or wearing the tainted jewelry will not cause lead poisoning, but children put everything in their mouths. In this way, they can ingest dangerous amounts of lead paint. The dangers of lead
Lead poisoning can cause serious illness and death in adults. In children the risk is far greater and it takes much smaller amounts to cause harm. Damage to children, caused by lead, can include:
You may not be aware that your child is playing with toys containing lead. If your child displays symptoms of lead poisoning, seek medical help right away. Symptoms include:
Irritability
Headaches
Memory problems
Reduced coordination
Slow reflexes
Muscle weakness
Sluggishness
Increased sleeping
Hyperactivity
Hearing loss
Vomiting
Constipation
Diarrhea
Abdominal pain
Reduced appetite
Weight loss
Unusual paleness
Children exposed to dangerous amounts of lead do not always show immediate symptoms. In such cases the damage may not become apparent until later in life, when blood levels of lead have returned to normal.
If you suspect that your child has been exposed to toys contaminated with lead paint, have your child tested immediately
Ah, lawyers druming up business!
Here is lead info from the CDC.
Apparently the system is set up to catch the problem. " To reduce these risks, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) issues recalls of toys that could potentially expose children to lead."
Of course if you have a complaint, tell it to the Chinese who hold our debt and Obama who borrow from China so the children of the little kids sucking on lead today will have a legacy of debt.
Yes and toxic municipal and well Water with 80 toxins I it- this is just local site
omg. Heavy metals and major carcinogens in Baby water/boiling water won't kill the carcinogens.
Is Water Pollution causing cancer?
What’s Wrong with our Drinking Water?
Water pollution has become one of the greatest toxic loads in the history of our planet. Drinking pure water and removing toxins is important in maintaining health and avoid cancer. Treating cancer alternatively looks at cancer and other diseases to see the effects of water pollution and how each of us can rid our bodies of some of the toxins that are in our water.
One hundred years ago, people died from contaminated water. Cholera, diarrhea, hookworm, trichuriasis, were all traced to water. With an increase in the population and the demand for water, came an increase in water’s contaminants.
Our municipalities have the enormous job of purifying the tremendous volume of water that flows into our homes. They have kept the population as healthy as possible. However there is more that each of us can do individually to ensure that we are drinking pure water.
Americans feel there is an abundant, never-ending supply of pure water. Water pollution is often not a consideration when we drink water. When we turn on the tap, only two percent of the water that pours out is ever used for cooking and drinking.
In fact, we live in one of the few countries in the world where you can drink from the garden hose without worry of becoming immediately sick.
Sadly, our aging water treatment and distribution systems were not built to handle modern-day contaminants. Nor can our aging water treatment plants keep up with our ever expanding population and it would take billions of dollars to upgrade them. Water pollution is becoming a major issue in cancer and other debilitating diseases.
Conservatives can be quite contradictory on this issue whether they realize it or not. Most conservatives are against government regulations, rules and oversight that would greatly reduce the harm that some of these corporations do whether in the discharge of toxic waste into the water supply, defective products, or environmental degradation. They point out that such regulations, rules and oversight hamper business and that the free market should handle damage these corporations do to one's property or life.
However, these same conservatives have an issue with the free market when injured property owners or sick plaintiffs take their complaints to court for the injustices these corporations have inflicted upon them or their loved ones. I would ask these folks, if you are against rules and regulations on corporate practices and also against the one remedy you have to control corporate irresponsibility, taking your grievance to court, then what is the recourse for the injured individual?
Is you answer rely on the charity of your church? Simply switch using their product? If you and your child are injured is your remedy to just throw up your hands and say c'est la vie and go on with your fractured lives.
Major corporations, and I am not talking about small businesses, and major polluters know where to grease the palms of GOP politicians. Their PR firms are adept at turning perpetrators into victims. A human life has value. Big business should not be permitted to destroy lives and walk away unscathed for their negligence and intentional conduct.
I would never vote for an initiative or politician who advocated a cap on damages in court for corporate misfeasance. Let the people decide the consequences of corporate conduct and not the politicians.

If people had to take individual accountability for products they produce they might think twice. The vaccine courts already protect corps from liability. (Just look at the mercury and aluminum there.) Then there is mercury amalgam filings. It is interesting how they tell people not to eat tuna, but let all this other stuff slide. Most of which goes on without informed consent. Right up there with how the sun is killing you, but nuclear waste and fallout are swept under the rug.
excellent point.
Water is needed by everyone, to survive. Coal slurry is not.

Coal Slurry in everyone's water supply:
UPDATE FEB 14 - There is actually a reason why the Clean Water Act was passed, and that was to protect citizens from industrial interests that consider the natural world their own personal toilet. In spite of decades of warnings and a series of major spills, the coal industry continues to use their paid for trolls in Congress and lawyers to block any effort to clean up thousands of so called coal ash impoundments around the nation - especially in the South where the people consider submitting to corporate abuse a Patriotic duty.
or they trust "local" govt which is infiltrated by Koch
