If there was no welfare of any kind, no regulations, unlimited lobbying - a complete, corporate free for all, what would America be like? Do you think the benefits would trickle down to the masses due to limits being lifted on the innovation and entrepreneurship from great minds like Steve Wozniak, Miley Cyrus, and the Waltons, or would America turn into a plutocratic third world hell hole?
Ahhh the libertarian vision for America, where everyone is definitively for themselves and only themselves.
Poverty and crime would skyrocket, the rich would build walls around their gated communities and cover them with soldiers from their private armies, the poor would survive by digging through their dumpsters, the rich would get the best health care while the poor ended up with witch doctors and faith healers, most education would cease to exist and probably be replaced by a mix of conspiracy theories, youtube and special-effects heavy entertainment and gaming, the environment would be irreversibly mutilated (except in wealthy areas) and the leading cause of death would be diseases that should have been wiped out decades ago.
Also, drugs would be legalized and aggressively marketed to children.

I guess that the period after the Civil War fits the bill. A time of little business regulation, 'panics', robber barons, 'company stores', rampant corruption (business and political), political machines (Tammany Hall, among others), poverty, disease, etc.
Great things were certainly done during that period (building of the railroads across the country, telephone poles for the telegraph and later telephone wires, etc), but Mark Twain and Charles Warner dubbed it 'The Gilded Age' (their book of same name). Most historians agree that the Gilded Age ended with the presidency of Theordore Roosevelt.
Civilization differs from the barbarism that preceded it in that civilization reflects people behaving as a member of a society rather than each person behaving as a society of one. Calls to regress from civilization to barbarism generally come from people who favor the barbaric approach to life through domination of some sort, whether that by physical force or through a modern analog, such as by exploiting an imbalance in control over the resources needed to survive. Similar markers of regression to barbarism surround other aspects of the advocacy, including an abject antipathy for moral fortitude and compassion for others, derision of knowledge and intellect, etc.

Free Market wealth redistribution works best.
Corporations would not exists as they would be considered a monopoly, like Standard Oil was found to be.
Only Companies would exists, where the owner of the company would be held accountable. No slap on the wrists of those making you money.
I didn't take it as an anarchy free for all. I took it as we still had the natural common laws and contract laws in place.
Theft, harm and killing being wrong and punishable.
First off, the wealthy would redistribute their wealth to those willing to work for it, or who they are willing to give it to as charity.
If I could prove harm, theft, or you killed my friend or a family member, then you would be held accountable.
If your company was hurting the people, the people would do something about it. You will be out of business one way or another. Justified killing, wasn't out of the relm of the justice system, when harm has been proven.
Instead of corporations, another evil would pop up that the courts would need to handle.
Monopolies(a form of corporation) Cartels, and price fixing.....
There would be MAFIA types, just like the government today acts as.

I don't understand this post. Is someone suggesting that there should be no regulations?
