How do you know it's totally false? Do you know about the concept of "tragedy of the commons"? Of course you dont.....
Yes, I know about it.
It's the boogeyman trotted out to argue for political control of resources. As if political control were better.
It's the worst means possible. Period. The premise is for the stupid, who actually have blind faith in political control over freedom, even though it has been proven the worst possible thing in the world.

Well if it's obvious on it's face, then it should be really EASY to prove me wrong. I don't think you can....
You've already demonstrated you have no idea what you're arguing.
To "hint" at "tragedy of the commons" as if it's some wonderful intellectual concept beyond me, is to fail to grasp that you're the one falling for myths. Please stop making assumptions that you're smarter, better, wiser, more well-read, or more 'enlightened' than I, and thus, have no obligation to defend what you believe.
Only those who lie to themselves believe their arguments need no defense.

The only way you can be a monopoly in a free market is to be drastically better than everyone else.
Government intervention creates monopolies. Free markets destroy them.
So let's examine this. A free market in water would mean that every provider of water should provide separate private water pipes. Right?
How about electricity. Every competitor in the electric power industry should provide separate wires to you home. How about your internet service. Separate wires from all those providers?
Maybe your roads should be part of the free market system. Wonder how that might work.
You free market people need to start doing some thinking.
And if you had a great idea, say steam power or electricity or the wheel or any number of technology, you can easily be drastically better than everyone. You can viciously and violently surpress someone stealing or taking your idea and technology.
To which I asked "How"?
The other poster has no idea. It's just an article of faith, taken on blind faith in those he believes are his intellectual superiors, and he simply fails to recognize the gigantic contradictions he accepts without question.
All he has to do is explain "how". Detailed. Not just "we both know" nonsense.

Sure, what's your point?

Absolutely.

Very, very well.

One thing you should never do - as someone who hasn't done it - is tell people who have done it, that they don't know how and cannot do it.
Ever consider that in that scenario it would result in higher costs to the consumer?
Why is it that you hate the poor and working people of this nation?
Of course it would cost more. You need $4 trillion in infrastructure yesterday. Try telling voters their bills will now be more reflective of the true cost of their utilities services and see what happens. Why do you think some local governments are privatizing things like water?
