White protestants doing their best to hold on to an empire. That's what made America I guess...

Not any more - at least if your gay or transgender. Today, Republican Governor Sam Brownback issued an executive order removing anti-discrimination protections for State employees on the basis of one's sexual orientation or gender identity. From now on, the State of Kansas can fire, refuse to hire, refuse to promote, etc, etc, etc someone simply because he or she is gay or lesbian.
No, that's not it at all.

I couldn't care less who married whom.

The bottom line is that I should be able to hire and fire whomever I please whenever I please for whatever reason that I please. No one should force an employer to jump through hoops to fire an ineffective employee.

I don't hire people with sleeves of tattoos, facial piercings, who have poor hygiene or junkie looking people. I would not hire a flaming gay man nor would I hire a very lesbian looking woman or a transvestite. I am entitled to hire the people who I want to make a good, professional appearance at someone's home.

Am I a bigot?

Well, that's exactly what happened. I'm not sure what you mean by "that's not it at all."

How about the government as an employer? That's what this thread is about. Should the government - as an employer - be able to discriminate against it's employees/potential employees because of their sexual orientation?

And what does this have to do with "ineffective" employees????

Here are some examples:

Meet the People Fired for Being LGBT in 2013 | Advocate.com

Btw I knew somebody who was fired (probably for being transsexual) after the employer found out after a background check. This girl - you'd never know she was a transsexual. She's even shown me where the hospitals have given her pregnancy tests and offered pap smear appointments. She claims she's never been arrested, and I believe her. She's very down to earth and doesn't really go out much to get into any trouble anyways.
