This is just another Republican governor trying to cover for his failed economic policies by catering to the mouth breathing bigot crowd. Nothing new here.
I fear Kansas has been infected by Oklahoma disease.
Yes, a lot of Oklahomans have a hell of a lot of hatred and resentment against gays, well proven by the fact that around a dozen anti gay bills have been proposed by the Oklahoma Legislature. There is a feeling among Republicans that there is a strong need to get back at gays for winning the right to same sex marriage.
Sex-Based Discrimination
Being fired for being LGBT is covered under Title VII under the guise of sex stereo typing. This entire thread is nonsense.
Did you read the articles you attached? Sex based discrimination, ie. Gender discrimination, is not the same thing as discrimination against gays and lesbians. How can a man who fires another man for being gay discriminate against his gender?
I don't understand why so many people so strongly desire the right to discriminate against homosexuals, unless they are grossly offended by their sex acts and don't want to be in the presence of people who do such things. But what about a straight guy at work who brags about his sex life with women with many of his sex acts he talks about you find quite offensive. Should you have the right to expect this person to be fired from work?
It's NOT about discrimination - it is about special treatment under the law.
I have worked with several gay men who share explicit details about their sexual encounters. I have worked with a gay man who (had he been straight) would be an HR nightmare. Calling women "lipstick lesbians" and making lots of gay sexual entendres.
These behaviors are inappropriate. If a straight man were to make sexually harassing statements of this nature, he would be fired. But neither of these gay guys were even reprimanded out of fear by HR of a lawsuit.
Sorry, but gays want special treatment, not equal treatment.
Maybe people aren't homophobes because of their reactions towards you...

Most gay men aren't anything like the crazy cockatoo-hair guy. Most are like the 'normal' coworker...who actually turned out to be gay himself.
That Kansas governor wants to make it OK to fire that normal man just because he has a boyfriend.
I grew up in San Francisco...I know plenty of gay people. Very few of them even remotely fit the flamboyant stereotype. You would never know that they're gay.
The fact is, you have encountered countless people who are gay. You just don't know they're gay because they don't suck on penis shaped lollies and run around showing people pics of their anus. You only notice, and explicitly identify as gay, the ones who make a big production of their sexuality.

It's the gays' fault your manager and HR team can't do their jobs, now?
