He hates Obamacare so much he refuses to buy insurance...lol. Nothing wrong with paying for insurance out of your pocket. He could have bought insurance back in January during the open enrollment and saved some money. I am kind of wondering if he hasn't in fact bought health insurance. Its not clear from what I have read that he doesn't now have insurance...You would have to be really stupid not to cover at least your wife.

Its not a government program when you go through the private market and buy insurance. I have done it as millions of Americans have done. You just pay the full price..you don't get subsidies. I bet this guy has insurance and something tells me he probably is getting subsidies. The hospital will enroll you on the spot during open enrollment periods.

You seem to be mistaking "rejoicing" from laughing at stupidity. Two different things. I would not rejoice in your drowning, if you refused a life jacket in a boat, and condemned life jackets, knowing you can't swim, but may make me shake my head and smile at how dumb you where.

If you have a chance to have coverage, and everyone is required to have coverage, there is no excuse to not have it. Even the poor who can not afford it have it available. Its time for some people to realize that its not always some one else's fault when decisions one makes go sour. I got tired of excuses for stupidity a long time ago. Live with it and learn.

Idiocy is not buying insurance while attacking insurance for the uninsured.
Just a little karmic sweetness.

That 17 grand just might pay the cost it took to stabilize him in the ER when he had the heart attack. Now the real expense comes with the maintenance and post procedures. Sorry for his loss and I do agree with the republican principle of "personal responsibility". It's very applicable in this case. A perfect example of the lack of personal responsibility in trade for political ideology.

One quick observation, though. If anti Obamacare Republicans all chip in and pay for his and his wife's medical care, then they may have unwittingly come up with the Republican alternate health plan to replace Obamacare. Just put up a site on the internet and anti-ACA people will flood you with cash to pay for your medical expenses. After 6 years, repubs have finally put in place the alternative to Obamacare. Kudos to you all. What took you so long.

SERIOUSLY??

When someone is hit with a serious medical event, you think CHARITY is the system we as a society should institute as the deciding factor between whether or not the patient can pay the costs vs. sell all their possessions and declare bankruptcy??

This is why every reasonable person should ABHOR the society envisioned by the conservative.
