Foolish to not have any insurance coverage, especially at that age. Even young people can be wiped out if they need to take their kids to the ER for any reason or have any type of semi-serious health condition. A simple visit to the doctor for x-rays and lab tests itself can cost thousands. Why is it so expensive? Well, that's a different issue entirely.
But I've got to say, the outright glee displayed by the liberals on this forum is downright disturbing. A revealing glimpse at the character of the far left.
Did you spend any time on the Trayvon Martin threads? You will see a bunch of conservative glee there over a death.

So far you've added little. Tell us, is the Sheriff a mooch or not?
Will you be donating to his fund out of the goodness of your heart?
And if he was allowed to keep the plan he liked he wouldn't have this problem but thanks to the idiot he now has a problem.
He has a problem because he no longer has insurance through work (he was a county sheriff) - he quit to run for Congress and is now self-employed.
He plans/planned to run for a sheriff position again in 2016.
"On December 22 2014, Mack said “We’re gonna make it a constitutional county and show everybody the blueprint for freedom. And there’s a lot more people running for other offices than me. I just said I’d run for sheriff. We’re going to give this one more try. The election is in 2016. I’m going to be moving there in spring of 2015 so I can start getting ready for this. You have about a year and a half to decide. And I’m dead serious about this. If I can move there, so can you.”
If Mack with his high profile can only raise $17,000 on GoFundMe for his medical bills there is little hope for the rest of us trying this begging approach.
Typical Graham County idiot. It's the rural rubes in this state that give us Arizonans a bad name. I worked up there for about 6 months. Single digit IQ's are the norm.
Unreal, but considering where he's from, I'm not surprised. Now he's passing the hat.
He should take his sorry butt back to Utah where he came from.

Taxing others to get what you want is good, but people giving voluntarily to what they feel is a good cause it to be derided as "passing the hat".
There is that liberal compassion shining through again.
Maybe 62 year old Mack crossed his fingers and hoped for no medical issues before he was eligible for socialist Medicare - then follow in Ayn Rand's footsteps.

I never claimed to have compassion for anyone. I'm notoriously stingy with that sentiment.
Buy insurance like the rest of us if you're such a rugged individualist that hates government...and maybe then you won't be passing the hat to total strangers.
Seems that despite his rhetoric, this guy only wants government jobs. Now he wants to be sheriff again. Guess he's quite the failure in the private sector.
you're offended to pay for someone who doesnt share your beliefs.
How liberal.
More offended that at age 62 he refused to purchase health insurance.
It isn't any particular political belief but instead common sense to do so.
