Don't think that is true.

The sad thing is, if we actually had a good healthcare system in this country, like a single-payer system, the sheriff wouldn't have to raise money for his care whether he had insurance or not. ACA didn't fix the problem. ACA was a corporate sellout. I shake my head when I see partisans cheering it on like it was some kind of medical godsend, apparently just because their guy's name is on it.

No one should have to worry about whether they can afford healthcare. Mandating that people purchase private insurance doesn't fix that problem. Obama himself laughed at the idea when he was running for president -- he said fixing healthcare by making people buy insurance made as much sense as fixing homelessness by making everyone buy a house. He was right then, and he caved in.

Lest anyone forget, ACA was hatched in a right-wing think tank. It was always going to be a corporate bonanza.

True, not all states did. Arizona did though.

Strange thing about opting out of expanded Medicaid. Previously, fed gave subsides directly to hospitals but that is reducing with expanded Medicaid to make up the difference. And now with dwindling fed funds to those opted out states, their hospitals are in real trouble/folding because of lack of money to keep them going. Funny how that works out, isn't it?

The hosoitals in my state are doing just fine without the federal subsidy. They are for profit hospitals.

Seriously? Children are not responsible for the bills of their parents and parents are not responsible for the bills of their children when they turn 18.

Really? Don't know what state you live in but a lot of opted out states are having real problems. Even keeping ERs going is tough for some. You should check it out.

Responsible? No. Ethically or Morally? Yes. There are 1000's upon 1000's who take care of parents financially and physically.
