The media cared not a whit. There was virtually no discussion of it.

Do these people really not know what is and has actually gone on or are they purposely lying? I would have to go with the latter.

Here's one account:
Columbia College Today: Barack Obama, My Columbia College Roommate

You can easily google and find others, including interviews and quotes from Michael L. Baron, who was Obama's thesis advisor, and Michael J. Wolfe, who took a class with him. They both spoke highly about Obama as a student; quite contrary to being a "backbencher", Baron remembers him as "outstanding". Here's how Wolf, a former MTV Network president, described him in a 2007 NYT interview:
Quote:
He was very smart. He had a broad sense of international politics and international relations. It was a class with a lot of debate. He was a very, very active participant. I think he was truly distinctive from the other people in that class. He stood out.

So I'm 65. So should I be accountable for things I may have said or written 55, 50 45 years ago?

What is wrong with people today? One cannot change one's mind based upon new information?

Or you apparently lived under a rock. Seriously. Obamas college days were discussed at length. To the point where many fact checking sites covered the falsehoods that were spread constantly. Romneys were discussed as well.

Palin attended 5 or 6 different obscure colleges for 5 or 6 years before finally getting her bachelor's in communications.
McCain attended the US Naval Academy. Fittingly, more media coverage was devoted to his naval career than to his Academy years.

Evidence from the student newspaper of Princeton’s college newspaper shows that the young Ted Cruz was a defender of women’s rights and not the anti-woman oaf.

Do you guys just pull this stuff out of your ass and hope nobody knows about Google?

Maybe the reason some of his friends lay low is because they know there are deranged conservative haters just waiting to be able to twist their words and friendships into something negative.

Mostly people who are going for PhDs.

In this case it was just a flighty girl who could not decide where to live or what to do and took 6 years and 5 schools just to get an undergrad degree. The major was journalism and she went on to be a sportscaster who later accused real journalists of using "gotcha questions" like "what do you read?"
