In the interest of equal treatment in the awarding of government contracts to "minority" businesses-I "identify" as a black, native American, lesbian. Should check all the happy boxes.
So trans people need to announce to everyone they are trans or else they are lying?
People want simple answers it is why people wondered about the choice to make a black Johnny Storm and a white Sue Storm brother and sister. I look at her and see a black person even though her parents want us to believe she is white. What her problem is the lies about growing up in Africa and hunting. If her parents are white, that don't make her white by default, adoption or genetics can cause a black baby.
How is this so much different from Jenner? Should you be allowed to identify as another race?
Anyone should be able to identify themselves as anything/one they want. But if in FACT they are not what they say they are, they should not be all fussy about it when others identify them as mentally ill.......or at the very least, dishonest.
I will with hold my enthusiasm for her until she gives a statement. I am not sure what her motivation for this re-classification of race is but it is brilliant in its outcome. It has outed people who believe that Black people and White people function different in society like a man and a woman do .

"The 20th-century writer and critic Anatole Broyard was a Louisiana Creole who chose to pass for white in his adult life in New York City and Connecticut. He wanted to create an independent writing life and not be classified as a black writer. In addition, he did not identify with northern urban blacks, whose experiences had been much different from his as a child in New Orleans' Creole community. He married an American woman of European descent. His wife and many of his friends knew he was partly black in ancestry. His daughter Bliss Broyard did not find out until after her father's death. In 2007 she published a memoir that traced her exploration of her father's life and family mysteries entitled One Drop: My Father's Hidden Life - A Story of Race and Family Secrets."
The US civil rights leader Walter Francis White (who was blond-haired, blue-eyed, and very fair) was of mixed-race, mostly European ancestry, as 27 of his 32 great-great-great-grandparents were white; five were classified as black and had been slaves. He grew up with his parents and family in Atlanta in the black community and identified with it. He served as the chief executive of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) from 1929 until his death in 1955. In the earlier stages of his career, he conducted investigations in the South, during which he sometimes passed as white to gather information more freely on lynchings and hate crimes, and to protect himself in socially hostile environments.
Nobody is up front when they embark on "racial re-classification"
Because she is in denial. She colored her skin, got a bad perm, found a Black guy to impersonate her father.
You can't even compare her to Jenner.
She still won't admit she's White. She really thinks she's Black.
That's not coming out, that's not self-identifying. That's something that needs counseling so she can accept her Whiteness and move on with her life. If she want to admit she's White but identifies with Black then that is fine. But she's not doing that.
She is a prime example of what our great educational system produces
Some people just like being able to play the victim card all their lives. She probably found that it played better and got her more credibility and sympathy when playing black as well.
Its different from Jenner, because Jenner is not misrepresenting himself -- everyone knows he was born male and became female.
You have the right to identify any way you like, but if you are going to say that you are black when you are not, don't be surprised if people call you on it.
Please.
Do you think transsexuals go around "post-transition" with a sign around their neck that says "Hi, I used to be <opposite gender>"?
Hell no.
Family and close friends might know, but how many of them just go around and tell EVERYONE they know? Doubt they put it on their resume or LinkedIn page either.
But she's not doing that though. She jumped through an awful lot of hoops to "be Black" and she was not honest about it.
She didn't try to "identify" as being Black; she altered herself to actually come across as Black.
Identity entails looks as well.
I find it funny too that she went to great lengths to "look" black (i.e. identify). She really didn't have to go that far. There are actually people who look white but who are part black who look just like she did before changing her appearance. I know a lot of bi-racial people, including familly members. Quite a few of my cousins and one of my nieces look white but they are half black.
And she really didn't jump through many hoops. She got some braids, curled her hair, and put on some bronzer. Most women do those things at some point.

That is because there are enough straight white males in America who think people that look like them instantly are the best workers or don't want to Rick the boat with diversity. News flash, they aren't. In my personal experience I've seen hard working black makes, black females, white females, gay white males, etc. We need some diversity, not saying everyone had to have a friend who is black or what have you but, we do need to know that we can't just within our own groups.
