Self esteem issues are why people lie like this. We live in an age where everyone is expected to be someone even if it means being someone they are not.
Well, Elizabeth Warren lied about being Native American on her college application in order to get preferential minority treatment and nobody seemed to care about that, so it must be ok, right?
Hey now, Liz has "high cheekbones" and someone in her family wrote a cookbook called "Powwow Chow." If that does give her Native American cred, I don't know what will! Oh yeah, and she is highly offended at the team moniker of the Redskins!!!
Mindy Kalings brother pretended to be Black to get into medical school.

John G. Griffin wrote a non-fiction book -- he never claimed to have been "born black."
Never heard of M. Kalings, but is she lied to get into med school then she wasn't a true "transracial."
M.G. Browne was an abolitionist. She may have sympathized with blacks, but after an admittedly short
search, I didn't notice any sign of racial identity issues.
And, C. King also had an ulterior motive in that wanted to marry a black woman. He didn't turn black until after he met her.
In contrast, a true transgender doesn't get there by a calculated approach to resolve financial, political, or romantic issues. Sexual identity is a result of powerful emotional experiences in childhood as well as genetics, and, IMO, the cultural experiences that accompany racial identity aren't as deeply ingrained.

1. She lied about being black - Source. The City of Spokane is invesitgating whether Dolezal violated the city's code of ethics by way of lying about her race on her citizen police ombudsman commission application—Dolezal identified as African-American.
2. She lied about her adopted brother being her son - Source.
3. She lied about the noose in Idaho - Source.
4. She lied about having a black dad - Source.
5. She lied about being born in a teepee and her family getting food with bow and arrow - Source.
6. She lied about hate letters and hate crimes - Source.
7. She copied/plagiarized artwork - Source.
8. She sued Howard University for Disrimination based on her being white. Source.
Those are accusations. It's not proof that she lied. The Howard University matter was dismissed.
It also does not address the issue that it is not a lie to claim ANY race in the USA. All "tests" for determining racial lineage were deemed unconstitutional long ago.
Why not? When nothing matters as to right and wrong anymore, what difference does it make? While I'm black, aren't we all, originally, from Africa? That's what the anthropologists tell us.
Truth be told there is but one race. The human race. A black horse and a white horse are still just horses. It shouldn't be any different for people.
