Because it isn't the Pope's teachings - the teachings are Jesus Christ's. The Pope is The Caretaker of Christ's Teachings and Christ's Church.
When it comes to science, the Church isn't living in the Age of Galileo any longer, especially since the 20th century. However, I find that many of the Church's critics are still rooted in the past.
'How can any rational person seriously believe this is some kind of a political 'hoax'? It would have to be a massive complex worldwide conspiracy with everyone involved keeping silent for the past 50 years. Everyone would have to be corrupt. All the evidence would have to be faked. And the laws of physics would have had to be faked as well. Is that sort of thinking rational? No'

Well-meaning people are lied to without their awareness. Instead of appealing to their rational minds, their emotions are targeted and engaged…they then become an activist for the cause. Thus the terms, 'bleeding heart liberal' and, 'useful idiot.'

Right, this is how communist organizations operate - like the KGB, for example.

Exactly correct. Per STALIN: The bigger the lie, the better, for manipulating people's belief.
'Is that sort of thinking rational? No'
Exactly correct, it's about over-riding the logical thinking of the people in order to control them.

All of us except for atheists believe in some kind of "God". The RC Pope is a man like the rest of us people, he ain't "God".
So you get to decide who is Christian and who isn't? Better leave that to the man upstairs (if he exists). Mormons claim to be Christians and who am I or you to say differently.

As Mother Teresa once said:
For you see, in the end, it is between you and God. It never was between you and them anyway.
It appears that the media got it wrong and I shouldn't have posted that without fact-checking first. He did study chemistry, but not at the level of a Masters degree.

Of course he's the "worst" from your standpoint, because he criticizes everything conservatives stand for. And by the way, from any rational review of the perspective of Christianity, he's right.
The average Chinese or Indian produces only a fraction of the pollution (1/5th or 1/10th respectively) that average Americans do. The only problem is there are nearly 10 of them (China + India) to every one of us or 3 BILLION vs 300 million.
