Funnily enough, the Irish and Italians were both discriminated against in the US when they first made a real presence here. Now, when one thinks of a "typical 'murrican", they likely imagine someone with an extraction mix of Irish/German/Italian.
One day, Mexican or Guatemalan will be in that visualized mix as well. Hope that doesn't upset any
resident moonlighting Stormfronters too much.
And by the way, even if they are not US citizens, they are still Americans. What continent do they come from?? Exactly.
Oh brother, you know damned well that when the term Americans is used it has always been acknowledged all over the world that they are referring to U.S. citizens. Who the hell refers to themselves by the continent they live on? They nearly always refer to themselves by the country they are citizens of. Mexicans are first and foremost Mexicans not Americans.
No they are not "just as American as me." MY ancestors came here LEGALLY and BUILT this country from wilderness.
These hispanics, mostly mexicans, came here illegally, cause crime, take services, build nothng and "HOME" is where they or their parents came from.
Just being born here doesn't make you an American.

Exactly, I have no problem with Mexicans or any other immigrants that come here legally, assimilate into our society and respect our laws. But whether legal or illegal they aren't Americans aka U.S. citizens. That requires citizenship papers.
Hispanics are not getting the education they need.. the drop out rate is 50%.. the culture accepts having children out o wedlock and many anchor babies are being born with illegals mothers.
The takers are draining the system as more and more illegals come here for free food stamps, housing, and medical care.. that is why our premiums go up to cover all the free care the hospitals have to give to anyone walking through the door. The numbers will grow when those here tell of all the free services they get here and how well they live here. Nothing is being done to stop it.
Our country is no longer rich.. we are in very deep debt with 18 trillion dollars of borrowed money our government has already spent for services ... we can no longer afford to cover two countries plus more hispanics from other countries who are here too. No one does a thing to correct this..
Gov. Christie said he spends 18K a year on each illegal here in NJ and we have to invest more to sent them to college yet tells us we have to add two years to collect Social Security of which Americans have paid in to collect. Christie says he is a real conservative.. HA! No one is looking out for Americans other than Donald Trump and the far right candidates who see the Americans are getting the shaft from the ruling class.
Why don't Asians face these same problems here in CA? Why do they generally excel in academics? They face many of the same challenges Hispanics face, including learning english. Maybe because they place emphasis on things like education while most Hispanics do not.
Illegal immigrants are not fellow Americans and I don't live in a hate filled bubble. I don't know why you assume to know me. My wife is first generation Mexican American.

Of course, the implication behind these kinds of posts is highly racist. "They're not doing X the right way or at a high enough rate, so we're going to say that they're lesser Americans." That kind of attitude tends to lead to marginalized people and future struggles.

Because Asians already know education equates with success for their children. There is a thousand years of tradition behind their belief, and it is universal among all the Asian nationalities.
That's why tiny Asian tiger moms will walk into a pool hall, slap half the occupants silly, and drag their kids out. Tradition allows them to do that. The Asian youth does its own way of rebelling, but they still go to school while doing it.
To do otherwise would bring shame to their mothers, and all Asian cultures use shame, not guilt, as a social control.

Why not? That sounds like a good policy to me. U.S. test scores on international math and science exams are already dismal. We don't need it to get worse.
They've revitalized lots of neighborhoods in California, not to mention that they provide tons of much needed labor in the rural AND urban areas that others seem to be above doing.
Moreover, these are our fellow Americans. Why in the hell would you talk about them as if they're invisible or can't understand what you're saying about them? Yeah, many struggle and don't get good educations, but they're out here working their asses off despite their problems.
California Latinos are not sinking the state. That's b.s.
Legal aliens and US citizens ain't the problem, even Hispanics. Tho I have a feeling a huge part of the "Latinos" being talked about are either illegal aliens or anchor kids with at least 1 illegal parent.
