Here's some quick facts about the prime minister of Pakistan Nawaz Sharif who is trusted with the responsibility of building schools for girls with our dollars. Maybe I wouldnt feel so bad if it went to an honorable leader but him & his family have been convited of corruption several times. Its no secret in Pakistan that any foreign aid will never reach the needy. Even the containers of foods, clothes & medicine for disaster relief are auctioned off for money:

Nawaz Sharif Fast Facts - CNN.com

"July 22, 2000 - Is convicted of corruption and sentenced to an additional 14 years imprisonment while already serving a life sentence. His failure to declare assets and pay taxes led to the conviction.

December 2000 - Is released from prison by a deal brokered by the Saudi royal family and he and his family head to Saudi Arabia for 10 years in exile.

December 2000-August 2007- In exile in Saudi Arabia."

The US obligated $ 67 billion in aid to Pakistan between 1951-2011.

The FY 2014 budget request marks a significant decline in assistance to Pakistan, although assistance remains significant.

The Congressional Appropriations Committee is free to approve or decline spending requests.

I am sure the First Lady has thought of this.....wonder why she feels the need to give money to these girls and not our own girls.

Kind of hard when $$$ are given to people who still kill others for their own opinion. Are there not poor girls in the USA?

Pakistan blasphemy case: Asia Bibi to go to top court - CNN.com
Asia Bibi, a mother of five from Punjab province, was accused of defiling the name of the Prophet Mohammed during a 2009 argument with Muslim fellow field workers.
The workers had refused to drink from a bucket of water she had touched because she was not Muslim.
In November 2010, a Pakistani district court found Bibi guilty of blasphemy. The offense is punishable by death or life imprisonment, according to Pakistan's penal code, and Bibi was sentenced to hang.

What are your thoughts about this? I do appreciate the kind gesture but i worry about usa economy & feel that our own education system, soldiers, hospitals deserve this money more than any foreign country. Pakistan is a highly corrupt country & if you follow their politics closely, all the international aid goes into politicians' pockets. It never reaches the needy. I wish there was atleast a way to keep tabs on them to make sure its used for intended purpose. The tax payers should vote on this but unfortunately we dont have a say in anything.
Meanwhile, the Kansas City (Missouri) public school system is on accreditation waivers which they are granted because they're a political embarrassment.

They graduate something like 60%....which then largely wind up in prison and welfare.

How about spending some of that at home to prevent people from becoming drags on society and reach their potential?

Let's be real and not give each other a load of bull around here....you're just as disinterested in giving that money to poor girls in the USA.

So please, can we have an honest argument for once?
